Learn More About Troxel From Our Team of Experts

Developed by a Doctor, Trusted by Riders

Troxel began with founder Dr. Richard Timms, a critical care specialist and researcher. His expertise shaped innovative designs that help prevent lifechanging riding injuries. That legacy continues with cutting-edge technology in every Troxel helmet.

Ride Safer, Ride Smarter

At Troxel, rider safety comes first. They offer ASTM/SEI-certified helmets for all ages, skill levels, and disciplines—from English to Western. They focus R&D on Western and trail riders, and support every major discipline with certified helmets.

Innovation for Comfort, Safety & Style

Troxel Helmets introduced the first ASTM-approved helmet in 1992. They led with lightweight, ventilated, certified styles, Western options, comfort tech like FlipFold, and innovations like washable liners, Duratec, rubberized paint, and carbon fiber.

Technology That Works

The Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (MIPS) is a safety system designed to reduce rotational forces on the brain during impacts. Based on decades of research, it allows slight movement between the helmet and head to lower the risk of injury.

About Troxel

Prevention is better than a cure. This mindset led Troxel to develop the first lightweight and ventilated certified equestrian helmet, and they’ve been at the forefront of equestrian helmet research and innovation ever since.

I love this helmet. Recently started horseback riding on trails again and needed some protection. I have a larger head and scar from surgery that often makes it hard for me to find hats and helmets that work. Ordered this on an XL per sizing chart and worked wonderfully. Fits well, feels comfortable, and looks lovely. Couldn't be happier!
