Downgrade in materials

I bought this to replace one of the same brand and model that I had for years and loved (the sisal was just worn out so I thought my cats deserved something new)

I bought this to replace one of the same brand and model that I had for years and loved (the sisal was just worn out so I thought my cats deserved something new). I immediately noticed this one was of a lighter weight and poorer quality materials. Same high price though. After less than two months the posts SNAPPED in two places. Luckily my cats are ok.

Broke after 5 months

I just got home from work to it on the floor. It snapped right at the press board base. Cheap quality. Highly don’t recommend.

Not built to last

Timmmmmber! My lunatics broke this tree in 7 months. The base is very poorly built. This was my 2nd tree. Would not recommend due to poor quality.

Big Siamese loves it!

My almost 15 pound Siamese scratches this tree more than he has any other. His last tree bowed from the top bed due to his size! This tree is very sturdy. It doesn’t move when he jumps on it, but it is against a wall. The big perch is level with the bush he bird watches. He doesn’t really jump up to the top perch, even after rotating them a bit. Perhaps he will once he gets down to a healthier weight, but for now, he won’t do it. Not even for catnip. He will jump down. There’s a chair next to the tree, so I’m thinking it’s more weight related than anything. He’s very healthy aside from stealing his older dog brother’s food. I think a crazy kitten would love the whole thing. If I had multiple cats, I’m sure both perches would be used. As it is, I’m considering buying a second for my basement thanks to the sale! (Plus considering new furniture!) It’s a great buy! If not against a wall, you might want to put a weight on the base for a big kitty, but that’s just good sense regardless of tree!!

I purchased this same cat tree a few years ago and my cat loved it. The old version is very sturdy and she scratches on it multiple times per day. The only reason I ordered a new one is because the older tree started shedding sisal rope from the heavy scratch zones and you can take it apart and flip the pieces to make it last longer because the bolts are different sizes. Unfortunately the new version is so unsteady and rocks back and forth so much that my cat won’t use it for scratching.

This tree arrived timely and intact. It was fairly easy to assemble. There were a few things I needed to do to make it completely safe for my cats. First, I needed to cut loose threads off of the tree. A little bit of hot glue kept more threads from unraveling. I also fastened the tree to my wooden window frame with furniture anchors. I have a large, rambunctious kitten who likes to jump and play frequently on the cat tree. One of her jumps nearly toppled the tree over without the anchors. So, because the tree is somewhat top heavy, I recommend anchors or brackets to keep it secure. It was an easy fix, and worth it for the peace of mind. I would still recommend the tree because it’s hard to find a tree this size and this solid for under $100.

The pole at the base broke, tipping the whole cat tree while my cat was sleeping on the top platform. It is not fixable and my cat has a sore paw. Not what you want

Similar to another review, I purchased the Two by Two three level cat tree after being impressed with the sturdiness of the smaller one and two level versions. When I took the three level tree out of the box, I could immediately tell it was a cheaper quality than the smaller versions I had purchased earlier. Once I attached the first level to the base it was also very apparent that the item I received is not as sturdy as the previous versions I have purchased. There is a visible wobble before I even added the additional levels, whereas my previous purchases have no wobble. The pictures of this item, as well as those in earlier customer reviews are definitely better quality than the product I received. Either this company has cheaped out on materials or I received a dud. I see that another reviewer has the same complaints so buyer beware.
