I needed this to keep a new outside cat quarantined for medical reason and to control how they met the other cats. She was INCREDIBLY motivated to get out of the room she was in, and surprise surprise, she went over the top. I caught it on camera so I know it wasn't a failure on our part to close the latch. So it didn't work for her. But a different cat it worked well for, as he wasn't as interested in climbing. So it depends on the cat for sure.
