We got the Unipaws Extra Tall Metal Cat Gate with Width and Height Extensions. Read over the instructions, laid everything out on the floor, made sure it was all there and started to assemble it flat on the floor. I looked at the Images carefully as I slowly put it together and once one side was done the other was easy to repeat. The pressure mounting circle screws that twist onto the upper pads screws were in the bag with the extension piece fixing parts instead of screwed onto the upper pads screws and bagged separately. There is no note that explains that the upper posts are just a smooth hole that the pads fit into and can slip out but once the gate is upright and the post is extended, then the (A)circle screw pushes the upper pad up and the post down tightly. The notes about the (B) upper and lower extension piece fixing parts said it's a bit difficult but if it is attached to the single part of the gate, see pointing finger, and slightly stretched to fit over the two pieces and slid into place it is much easier and safer. The advantages of the Fixing Pins over the Latch pieces that clamp onto the extra post is that without the extra post the gates both open, and the (C) fixing pins each have a latch that keeps the actual latch arms from lifting if bumped or jarred. The gates do open (D) separately both ways. They are made of aluminum on the vertical parts and plastic on the horizontal parts. The plastic is sturdy and snaps together well and tightly.There is an extra trick to helping the gates to stay in place. Get (E) Stay 'n' Place Skid Resistant Tabs for Rugs and Mats from Mohawk Home. They are releasable tabs, 4" x 4" but adhere to hard surfaces (floors) well. Trim them before removing the liner and press the tab to the Non Slip Base according to the directions as if it was a rug and remove the other liner that attaches to the floor side and press the base down where the gate is to stay. Extend the pole and twist the circle screw to tighten, repeat for the other side. I put up one side and then the other.
