Ursodiol is used to treat certain diseases of the liver and gallbladder by reducing the amount of cholesterol in bile and bile stones.
Please contact your vet immediately if you notice any of the following: allergic reaction, diarrhea, vomiting, depression or jaundice (yellowing of the gums, skin or eyes). Other side effects are possible. If your animal seems ill in any other way while taking Ursodiol, contact your veterinarian immediately.
Notify your veterinarian of any other medications, including vitamins and supplements, your pet is taking before using this medication.
Do not give Ursodiol to pets who are allergic to it or similar medications. Caution should be used in animals with complications of gallstones, such as pancreatitis, bile duct obstruction or inflammation of the gallbladder or bile ducts (cholecystitis and cholangitis). These animals should only take Ursodiol if the benefits outweigh the risks. If you observe any unusual signs in your pet, contact your veterinarian immediately.
This drug is FDA-approved for human use. However, it is common practice for veterinarians to prescribe such drugs for use in dogs and cats.

Give Ursodiol only as directed by your veterinarian. Capsules should be given by mouth preferably with food. If you do not understand how to give Ursodiol properly, always consult with your veterinarian.
Ursodiol works by improving the flow of bile into and out of the gallbladder and into the intestine. This prevents bile from building up. If bile builds up, it can be potentially toxic. This medication can also help decrease cholesterol in the bile by reducing production of it in the liver. Ursodiol can also reduce the amount of cholesterol absorbed from food and increases its breakdown which can be especially helpful in removing gallstones that are made if cholesterol.
It can take weeks to months of using Ursodiol in your pet to see improvement in clinical symptoms and lab work.

too expensive
Went from 1.29 to 3.29 a pill .. this is ridiculously too high and seems like a price hike..
Tablet please
I'm thankful Chewy carries this RX although I would really like to get it in a tablet form. My dog only requires 75mg daily so I currently have to empty every capsule and try to estimate what 1/4 of a capsule looks like. I'm concerned I'm not giving her the correct amount. I love Chewy! ❤️
Capsule Too large
Would love a smaller capsule. Hard to administer.

Please make this is a 150 mg dose for dog, as this med is hard to find and I like using chewy.

Hoping For Smaller Dosage
Adding my request for a smaller dosage of this medication. My fur baby needs a 75mg dose and capsules are very difficult to work with. Please consider our requests for tablets and smaller mg dosages.
Too large a dose
I also need this a smaller dose, 60mg and am having to pay extra to have it compounded to a smaller dose. It would be helpful and more beneficial if you could buy it this way.
Need tablets
I also wish this came in tablet form. My dog currently gets a 250mg tablet from our vet and he only gets 1/2 tablet daily.

I love Chewy and wish I could just transfer my entire prescription list here. But for this medication my fur baby needs 50 mg...so 300mg in a powder capsule form isn't gonna cut it. Let's get the splittable tablet form in already Chewy, that would be great!

A few months ago I left a one star review for this product, because it did not come in a tablet form in order to divide it to get to the 75 mg that my dog needs. Someone from Chewy called me less than an hour later to personally tell me they were working on getting more options for this drug. That is great customer service, and I feel confident and hopeful that they will have it as soon as they can get it. It would certainly make my life easier, because I am currently having to have it custom made at a compounding pharmacy.
