The platform is well made and holds the heavy bowl securely, especially when full of heavy water. The design doesn't really go with my decor but it's so cute on its own that it doesn't really matter. A great item all around, I think! Details on how I'm using it, in case it helps others: I've been looking for a "platform" for my pup's food bowl, which is actually a children's silicone "plate" with a small lip that I started using when I thought she was getting whisker fatigue... and she much prefers to eat out of it now! But it's hard to find something to raise it up a bit because all dog food platforms have holes in them to recess a bowl. Her plate would inevitably tilt down into the hole. So when I saw this, I snatched it up. Not only is it a regular flat platform with no hole, but the raised edge helps prevent her from sliding her plate off of it when she gets excited. The ceramic bowl itself was just kind of a bonus when I bought it, but I actually ended up using it separately (on the floor next to the food setup) as a water bowl because it holds so much and was cute. I wanted to raise the water back up and so I bought another set to match. So now I have one set as is for her water, and then one where I replace the ceramic bowl with her food plate. (So I have an extra ceramic bowl that I swap out when I'm washing the current one.) Works great!!

Not exactly functional
I’ve purchased to be used as a water bowl. The bowl is not entirely sealed and leaks into wooden stand. Maybe a non issue for food but definitely water. Unfortunate
