I do not understand why it has some bad comments, I think that perhaps they are not giving it correctly to their dogs. Any dog that has tried a natural diet (Barf, Raw) and is changed to croquettes will have diarrhea/vomiting, due to the change in diet, it is normal. I have a Cane Corso puppy (10 months), and a Pitbull mix with Cane Corso also 2 years old. I bought this food for my Cane Corso to grow more and I gave my pitbull Purina Pro-Plan (it is also very good), but I noticed that my pitbull only wanted to eat Victor's food for my cane corso and stopped eating his (pro-plan), so I started giving the same to both (Victor), it's incredible how much they like it, you have to be very subtle when changing the food to a new one (as it says in the instructions from Victor), because if you don't do it you can cause a big diarrhea in your dog, they also vomit. Both of their hair shines a lot. Currently I will be changing the food for the same brand, but the one that says "High Protein" so that my girl gets bigger (they recommended it to me), but only for that reason I change it, not because it is bad, on the contrary, it is very good for all breeds. But for Mastiffs like the Cane Corso (among others) or for other giant breeds, I think that more protein would be better (accompanied by exercise). I RECOMMEND IT 100%.
I have been ordering this food for years , now my dog won’t eat it and you can’t buy this food anywhere. She never had a problem eating this food. I had to toss a quarter of the 40 lb dog food out. It doesn’t expire for a couple of more months. I purchased a bag of 1-5 lb bag thinking the 40 lb bag was bad at the bottom of that bag. This food she just won’t eat anymore! It doesn’t expire for a few months! What is going on? I can’t afford to keep tossing this dog food out.
So as of April my dogs have been having horrible symptoms, loose runny poops, won’t eat, threw up but the poop would be super runny and also have blood! This was all after switching them to the Victor professional dog food, won’t do this again put them on another kind and now they are better but it’s just so bad and to find out they changed the formula. Many others I know who are on this had the same issue
I have fed Victor Professional since my dog was a puppy. All of a sudden with this new bag I bought in March something has changed. My dog has thrown up all his dinner for five night now. I will have to change this food to another brand. I am extremely upset.
My GSPs have been eating this food for two years and loved it until the March shipment. They ate the first few servings reluctantly and then became severely sick. I tried another Victor brand with same result. Now I am hunting for another brand.
Switched from Victor Pro, as I wanted a bigger food pellet since one of my dogs was speed eating. Also, didn't think they needed the 30/20 make up anymore since they weren't as active. Fast forward to the 3rd bag of food since switching and the last 2 bags the dogs have not been finishing their food as they usually do in one sitting. My lab won't even start eating when I put her food down as usual, and vomited a few days ago. Not sure what changed or why this Victor variation is that different, but I am switching back to the pro for my dogs.
So recently we have had to switch from purina pro plan because the bag we were feeding went up to 70$ for a 30lb bag and we can no longer afford that for such a small bag so sadly we have ventured out , this kibble is so huge the dogs absolutely hated this formula after tossing it even our barn cats wouldn't touch it so I ended up giving it away and buying a different formula.
My dogs have had zero issues, I did just switch them to it about 2 months ago, I wonder if there was a silent formula change that upset the bellies of others pets
I do not recommend the Victor Classic. Have been feeding Victor for over a year and all of sudden my dog won’t eat his food. I don’t know if something has changed with the food but my dog just sniffs it and walks away. I will not be buying anymore of the Victor classic. Money wasted
This product has my dog passing gas and very loose stools. Now I have to spend more money on another product not happy at all!
