A unique blend of mixed tocopherols for superior free radical absorption and of botanically-sourced antioxidants are added to the protein and fat ingredients we use to stabilize and naturally prevent oxidative damage. No artificially based preservatives are added to our product.
Why is it so important that there is no corn, wheat, or soy in VICTOR?
Corn, Wheat, and Soy have all been identified as potential allergens for some dogs and cats.
Where can I find the Lot Code and Best By date on a bag of Victor?
The Lot Code Number and Best By Date can be found on the back side of the bag (New Poly Packaging) above the VICTOR Logo near the top or (Older Paper Packaging) near the bottom seal below the labeling. The Best By Date is one year from the date the product was packaged for what should still be suitable to be fed up to that date as a guideline. Provided the product has been in favorable conditions will determine how suitable for consumption it should be. Keeping the product from being exposed to excessive heat for any amount of time is the best way to maintain the expected shelf life of one year.

How many calories are in a cup of the victors senior healthy weight dog food
Answer by • May 31, 2019
This formula has 360 kilocalories per cup or 3385 kilocalories per kilogram.
My dog needed to lose weight. Even with strict portion control he still gained weight. We did eventually identify a thyroid condition, and managing that with proper medication did help, but it was a long road, and I decided to switch him to a diet food as well.
The first diet food I tried, I did unfortunately purchase a large bag of. My dog had never been picky or rejected a food before, so it didn't even cross my mind that might be a problem. He hated that first diet food so much that even though money was tight and it was an expensive brand I didn't even make him finish it before switching.
After that I didn't want to waste on another large bag he might not like, so I ordered five small bags of different diet and healthy weight foods from Chewy. He only liked two of them, of which this Victor Purpose Senior Healthy Weight food was one.
(I donated the what was left of the original bag and all of the unchosen small bags to a charity organization.)
So in total he tried six different diet and healthy weight foods, and only liked this and one other!

Love it!
I have a 10 year old Boykin who had started getting a little fat and I knew it was time to switch to a senior food. I was worried he wouldn’t like it. He was on the Victor Multi Pro for years. I gradually added it and he never seemed to notice. He still eats great. He still has plenty of energy for long walks and playing ball. I like that it will have some added senior nutrition for him and hopefully he will shed a couple pounds too.

Made our dog EXTREMELY thirsty
Switched to this food after reading how it is made and the benefits it is supposed to have.
Unfortunately the dog didn't lose any weight and actually became extremely thirsty. The dog now licks her water bowl until it is empty, causing us to refill it multiple times a day. Before her food she was not like this, and when we gave her alternate food for a week, her extreme thirst disappeared.

Did Not Agree With My Dog’s Stomach
My dog did fine with this food at first but about a week in, she got bad diarrhea. I took her off it for a week, and tried it once more for breakfast and she had really soft stools again. It’s disappointing because I liked that this had glucosamine in it and other good things for senior dogs but I will have to go back to her old food.

Great choice for weight loss and maintenance
I've been feeding Victor for years. My older German shepherd has always had issues with gaining weight, so we switched to this healthy weight formula a few years ago. It has been great for him. It helped him lose a some weight and now maintain. And he loves it.

Didn't Work For Us
Was excited to try this for my pup and it seemed like it would be a success while I was mixing it with his old food. However, as soon as I completely switched him he refused to eat (and he loves to eat.) I bought a small bag of his old food and he ate that right away. I then gave him the Victor in the next day as the only option, didn't touch it. Set out both options, ate his old food again. Needless to say wasn't the right choice for us.

when your dog needs to loose weight
We switched to the 'healthy weight' Victor food because our dog had gained weight. He had no trouble switching to the new food and seems to enjoy it as much as his old Victor dog food.
