Soul Crusher and Dream Crusher are a couple of kitties who don't turn their noses up at much—as long as it's cat food. I was very interested to try this product, as I have fibromyalgia and struggle with weakness in my hands, making it difficult to open wet food cans. I thought this could be an interesting solution if I could rehydrate it for them in place of their usual wet food. I found the pieces difficult to crush or crumble. Even between two fingers, it took quite a bit of force, and mashing them with the back of a fork proved too much for me. I tried leaving them in water for over half an hour, hoping they would be easier to mash after some rehydration, but found the water hardly penetrated the biscuit. My solution was to put them in a bag and use a mallet, which made it hard to control the uniformity. After all that work, my kitties were very uninterested. Over the course of a week, I tried every method I could think of—mixing with dry food, sprinkling on wet food, rehydrating alone, mixing with wet food, and using it as a base topped with wet food. Unfortunately, if this food was in the area, my kitties were not. I've never seen them so put off by a food in their lives. Now, Dream is a 16-pound Maine Coon-ish kitty, and Soul is a 19-pound gray tuxedo. These two can eat—and if they choose not to, I know I've received their meow-ssage loud and clear: “No thanks, Mom!” This one just wasn’t for us. I loved the concept. If you're looking for a more shelf-stable option to raw food and you don’t have hand strength struggles, it may be worth seeing if your kitties have the palate for it. The ingredients were wonderful—certainly something I think my cats would have eaten, had it not been freeze-dried, possibly.

I think maybe this is too sophisticated for my crew. I tried offering them dry; no takers. I tried offering them after they were moist; no takers. Maybe I’m not offering them correctly? I dropped one and the chihuahua went nuts for it so it’s probably great, just not for us.

My cats did not like this one. We tried giving it to them in many different ways, full, in half, in quarters, crushed and dusted over their food…. Nothing. They would not touch it which is not normal, our one cat eats EVERYTHING.
