Questions & Answers

7 Customer Questions

I have to ask, are these really made of green tripe? I've dehydrated green tripe before and it is a lot more green and stinky. These are not green and they have no odor.

Answer by ChewyMar 07, 2018
These treats are made from pure raw freeze-dried beef free from added hormones and antibiotics. Green Beef Tripe is the single ingredient.

If it is really green Tripe, it's not greenish. Is that becasue it is bleached?

Answer by ChewySep 08, 2018
The green beef tripe is called ‘green’ not because of the color but because it is not processed and still contains contents of the grazing animal’s stomach.

Chewy's description has these as green beef tripe but the bag just says beef tripe. Are these green tripe or regular tripe?

Answer by ChewyFeb 26, 2018
These treats are made of Green Beef Tripe.

Are these the same size as the pieces in the 2.3oz bag? (That smaller bag isn’t labelled “nibblets” but they’re the perfect size for training treats)

Answer by ChewyMay 02, 2018
Since these are natural treats, the sizes will vary. The smallest pieces are about the size of a pea, the larger pieces like a kidney bean. Please refer to the picture below for a visual example of the treats.

Raven loves them!

This is the only treat my dog can eat, as it naturally has digestive enzymes from the cow's stomach lining. She has a fairly significant pancreatic enzyme deficiency

These quality treats stand out over any others I have tried. I’m always training, and I expect a lot from my dog. He deserves as excellent treat when he does what I ask. You can pocket the treats, they don’t stink, and rest assured you have a healthy treat with you when you need it, although he has pulled down my jeans in search of a treat. I feed raw food, and these freeze treats are a logical healthy addition.

Good for bigger dogs

These aren't crumbly at all, meaning they're great to toss in my pocket for training treats. They're crunchy and hard, but still stink so the dogs love them.

Stinky, so dogs love them!

I like the brand because it is real, raw ingredients that are freeze dried. Very nutritious. The beef tripe is smelly but my dogs love them!

He liked them at first

My dog seemed to enjoy a few then didn't want any more. It's a mystery.

Thought tripe would be unpleasant to use for trick training, but found instead that this dried version is not only highly motivating to my dog, but also easy to handle for me. I grab a handful, toss it on a cutting board, use a paring knife to cut into smaller pieces, and throw into the "super high value" compartment at the back of my treat pouch. The crumbs? I sweep them into a little pile, ask Trip for a trick or two, then reward him by letting him lick them off the cutting board. It should be thoroughly washed after cutting up dog treats and before using it for human food handling in any case. A definite recommend, and can be cut to much smaller pieces and reserved for super-high value-worthy trick learning, so a little bit really does go a long way.

Unfortunate quality control :(

I'm sad to add my warning review to the others already here. I've been noticing bright green colouring on some of the pieces in the last several bags I've ordered

I'm sad to add my warning review to the others already here. I've been noticing bright green colouring on some of the pieces in the last several bags I've ordered (all within the last year). At first I was noticing them near the end of the bag, so I would just throw the rest out. Although both my dog and my cat love these and we go through the bags fairly quickly, I had assumed the discolouration was mold or something caused by normal spoilage (weird for a freeze-dried treat to spoil so quickly, but you never know). Well, today I took the advice of another user here and soaked the bright green pieces in some water, and now I no longer think it's mold. To me, it looked like a fibrous piece of plastic all melted and fused together into the treat pellet. Unlike the treat, the green part did not soften in water, as I would expect mold to do. This isn't an isolated incident, as I've seen it with my last 3 or 4 bags. So I think there is a serious quality control issue somewhere on the manufacturer side if all these bags are contaminated with whatever foreign substance is causing that discolouration. I've attached a photo showing how bright and obvious the discolouration is. After taking the photo, I had to throw out not only the bag of treats, but the expensive prescription kibble I poured it on as well. Unfortunately although my pets love the taste of these, we won't be ordering any more from this brand. It's not worth the risk to their health.
