I have a 16 yr old cocker spaniel who is picky about his treats. This was my first time trying this, and as soon as I took it out of the box that it came in, even though the treat was still unopened, my dog went crazy, trying to open it himself. When I put it on the counter unopened, one of my cats tried to get into it. When I finally opened it, my dog loved it, and my cats were trying to get it away from the dog. Lol. My dog loved it, and my cats, as well. I only gave my cats a tiny piece, but they all loved it. I highly recommend this treat.

Gave this chew to our 8 year old Springer Spaniel and he very much enjoyed it. He's a pretty heavy chewer and it only lasted about 15 mins but I like that it's all natural and I don't have to worry about him ingesting it. I'm also hopeful that it'll help his teeth as well. He had no problems with it and it became somewhat soft as he slobbered on it. It also left absolutely no mess which was amazing.

Not my dog's favorite

The turkey neck had more meat on it than I was expecting. While each freeze-dried neck will vary, it was a pretty good size/length, too, at about a foot long. However,

The turkey neck had more meat on it than I was expecting. While each freeze-dried neck will vary, it was a pretty good size/length, too, at about a foot long. However, the main issue was my shiba inu wasn’t too interested in it. I kept enticing him a few times to try it, and he took a few nibbles, but, ultimately, he left much of it untouched for whatever reason (he’s normally picky with his regular food, not treats). It also seemed to give him a little upset stomach the next day, too, despite being a single-ingredient treat. The few bites my dog did take, I could tell the turkey neck isn’t for rough chewers, and if he really did like it, he could’ve easily finished it very quickly. It’s an awkward shape and thickness, too, but I was able to stuff if into an open puzzle ball to slow him down, thinking he’d devour this in one go, but nope. It came with a long expiration date of almost 2 year away and is made in the U.S., so while I trust the quality, as my boy normally likes other Vital Essentials freeze-dried treats, this turkey neck just didn’t do it for him.

I made several attempts to give this to my girls. They're older and could benefit from having something softer to chew on and help with their teeth. We used to give them shin bones to chew when they were younger, but it's too hard for them now. Unfortunately, neither dog wanted anything to do with the turkey neck. Both actually got up to walk away from it. However, my nephew Frankie, snatched it up and ate the whole thing when he came over to visit. The feeding instructions said to feed in moderation under supervision. Unless, you are giving this to a small dog, or an old dog, it may not be realistic to expect your dog to lightly snack on this. It's priced about $7, so I wouldn't consider it worth the price for a dog that will probably chew the whole thing in under a minute. Unfortunately this was not a hit with my dogs.

I have a 2 year old Bernese Mountain Dog and a 5 year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi and they both love turkey neck as a treat. I love that I can break it in half and give a piece to each of them or I can use the whole neck as a treat. I absolutely love the quality of Vital Essentials products and this turkey neck is no exception. It’s a perfect treat, and my dogs absolutely loved the flavor and crunchiness.

I was a little concerned that, being a small dog, she'd have digestive issues because of consuming such a large amount all at once, but she was fine.
