Begin by bathing your animal. Dirt or sand particles in an animals coat will quickly dull trimmer blades. Rinse well and allow the coat to dry completely. Comb through the coat to remove any tangles and make trimming as easy as possible. This unit is intended from trimming and touch-ups. For complete clipping of body hair, you will need a more powerful clipper. For best results, put a drop of Wahl Clipper Oil on blades periodically, or approximately once a month. Motor bearings are permanently lubricated. Do not attempt to oil.
It is always wise take your dog for a walk or exercise prior to grooming activities, particularly if he is the type to get restless, antsy or apprehensive. It will diminish the dog’s energy level and make it easier to complete the task. Aromatherapists say the smell of spearmint and peppermint help calm dogs, so it might be worth buying a few scented candles.
Use a liquid fur detangler or work some baby oil into the mat. Let it sit for several minutes and then loosen and separate using your fingers or the end of a comb. Gently brush out the loosened sections. Severe, stubborn mats may have to be clipped if detangling doesn’t work.
Absolutely. Not brushing will lead to the development of mats. Matted hair will pull and inflame his sensitive skin and will be painful to remove. Regular brushing will also keep the dog’s skin healthy by stimulating blood flow and distributing natural oils, while also rooting out parasites.

I have a 13 lb Havanese and I purchased this to do touch-ups on her face and paw pads. It comes with a few clip-on blade options which are nice. It's quiet, but not as quiet as I would like but it did not bother her at all, so I still gave it 5 stars. It's design makes it easy to use in your hand. For the price, it is definitely worth it.
It works pretty good for what I bought it for, which was to shave paw pads of smaller dogs. The big downside of it though is that it's LOUD and it vibrates horribly. I dont recommend it simply because the noise scares dogs.
These clippers work great for the mussels and eye whiskers. As you can see they are small and aren’t meant to shave thick hair. I find them quick and handy.
I love these little clippers. I have a hairless Chinese crested and I need the trim the hair on her face as it grows long and bothers her so much. These clippers are perfect. These Wahl clippers usually last me approx 4 yrs. when they start giving me issues I just get a new one. I trim my dog every 3 weeks. So compared to paying a professional groomer, these things pay or themselves after 1 clipping. The key is keeping the blades oiled and free from hair. I saw another review that said these are extremely loud. No they aren’t. They aren’t whisper quiet, but they aren’t very loud either. When introducing them to an animal for the first time you have to get them used to the sound before starting to clip them. That’s with any animal and any type of clipper.
These clippers are great for touch ups at a horse show only. They are extremely loud so if you have a horse that is not a fan of clippers these may not be a good idea. They take batteries which is great but they cannot handle touching up thicker hair. I attempted to touch up a bridle path on my mini, didn't go well. Battery life is also terrible, they maybe last 5 minutes regardless of what you're doing or what type of batteries you use. I now mostly use them for training to get horses use to clippers as they're super loud but small enough I can easily work with a horse or put them in my pocket when I no longer need them. My goal for these was to be able to trim my minis ears which they aren't terrible for the job since my mini doesn't seem to mind loud obnoxious noises and they're the perfect size to fit in his ears. The changing of the batteries every 5 minutes gets pretty old fast and I still have to get out my normal clippers so I'm not sure I'd buy these again if I was in the same situation again
This product works but the one thing that Americans despise is false advertisement. The product description indicates that the shiny front of this trimmer is actual chrome; it is not, it is plastic painted silver from China. I’ve had several of these over the years that we’re white and I knew they were plastic going in to it but to blatantly misrepresent the product in the description, not good.
Great when it worked. Drained the AA battery real fast. And I went to use it today and it is completely shot. Save your money.
This "trimmer" is absolutely a complete total piece of garbage! I bought it to trim the mane around my cats neck so he wouldn't get food on his fir when he'd eat out of the can of wet food. This "trimmer" as it's called, would not cut it. You'd think a trimmer that claims to be able to cut horse hair could trim a little bit around a cats neck, but you'd be wrong.
I have use other battery operated trimmers. This one would not cut butter. A waste of money and time. I was very disappointed, I though, because it was WAHL is would be a good one. WRONG
I had one of these years ago to trim the hair on my dogs feet. I bought these as a replacement but unfortunately they don't work nearly as well. When I first turned the clippers in there seemed to be a little lag in the motor. They sort of trimmed the hair on the bottom of his feet... but reluctantly. :(
