My cat wouldn't eat it.
My cat at the time, was diagnosed with anemia and feline leukemia. He lost a lot of weight and was underweight. The vet said to buy high fat kitten food, as well as a liquid vitamin mineral with iron and L-Lysine supplement for cats. We couldn't get kitten food at the time, so I bought this in a local grocer. My cat ate a little at first, but wouldn't go back to eating it.
Apparently the big can is different?
I have both the 3oz variety packs (chicken, turkey, and the other one) and the big 12oz cans. I even bought a single can of 3oz chicken flavor at the store and my cat loved it. When I tried to feed him this big can he simply refuses to eat it. He would devour the 3oz cans and he already went through like 15 ouf of 24 for the 3oz variety packs. The big can has to have something different that's off.
Mixed interest in this
My cats usually prefer chicken pates and went for this at first. I still can get them to eat it but I can only slip it in once in a while and even then still end up tossing some. I do think its a good food but can't convince them of that. I am sure I will end up donating my stock to a rescue in the end.
Chonky Cat Approved
I switched to Wellness because the old food (not from Chewy) was having so many supply chain issues, frequent cancellations, I'd have to order other food which was impacting my chonky cat's waistline. Wellness has been a great fit and I have found that my very lazy cat is more motivated to move and play than he ever did before. My cat loves the food and didn't seem bothered that it was new. Overall, the flavor and pate texture is the same. His coat has been super shiny and healthy-looking since making this switch, and the itching scalp that he suffered from before has vanished. The consistency of the food is a bit odd (mostly the gravy?), but not a deterrent. I love using the big cans because it's so cost-efficient. Chewy's delivery speed is out of this world, and much faster than their competitors. I have been so happy I switched to Chewy and to Wellness food.
Cloudpuff went to flavortown on this one. Completely chowed it down and even continued licking his lips a whole minute after he was done! From a human perspective, it didn’t smell as strong as Fancy Feast and actually looked appetizing (no I wasn’t tempted to eat it). I had switched him over to this food in an attempt for him to eat healthier, and I’m glad he wasn’t opposed— then again, he isn’t a picky cat. He’d rummage through a trash can if I let him. Can’t wait to see the health benefits.
works for some...
Dad bought this for me but I am not impressed and always leave most of my meal. But it does not last long because the other three cats love it and have become members of the Clean Plate Club. So 3 of 4 give it four paws up.
Good size for multiple cat households
The 12.5 oz size works great for my 3 cat household and they love this food. Although it is pate, there is still quite a bit of gravy. The texture is such that they eat it happily without just licking the gravy and leaving the dried out remains and crying for a freshly opened can. My cats are picky and can decide on a whim that a certain food is no longer palatable, so I've tried many varieties and this one is a standout among the pate varieties. Also, if you calculate the cost per ounce of this size it is fairly affordable for a more premium brand. Even with the sales on the 5.5 oz cans of the same variety of Wellness wet, it still comes out cheaper.
End of the line for Wellness
Unfortunately, I think it's time to find a new canned food for my 6 cats. I've used Wellness for many years and having a 12 oz can has been very convenient, however, there have been inconsistencies in the look of the pate and the extent to which the can is filled. Moreover, I don't believe I've ever ordered Wellness 12 oz cans that we're not damaged. Some or all of the cans arrive damaged to various extents. The cans always have significant dents in them. The shrink wrap is not damaged, nor is the cardboard tray. The damage must be happening in the factory where the food is put into the cans. There might be one or two cans in a 12 pack that are not damaged, but this has been a consistent problem for many years. Chewy customer service has been excellent about crediting back the cost of the damaged cans, however, it's not fair for Chewy to have to reimburse me for the cans that are clearly damaged at the Wellness facility. Perhaps Wellness compensates Chewy for the bad cans, but I think its time to find a new food. There are few canned foods that come in a 12 oz can and I doubt I'll find the right type of food in this size.
My cat won’t even touch it
She loves chicken, in any form, and every other Wellness brand wet food I’ve given her, so I bought a case thinking she’d love it. She tried it once, and now won’t even eat it. If your cat is picky, sample a can before committing to the pack!
My cats love this
The first times I gave my cats the Wellness Chicken they thought they were in heaven. I made the mistake of buying the big cans this time but a few seconds in the microwave makes the second half of the can just as palatable and they gobble it down too! I like knowing that I’m giving them something healthy.
