What kind of litter should be used with this?

Litter-Robot 4 does not require special litter. Litter-Robot works well with almost any clumping or scoopable litter. Litter beads and crystals that are small enough to pass through the screen will also work. Litter-Robot is not compatible with litters that are strictly absorbent, non-clumping, loose-clumping, newspaper-based, or wood-based pellets.

How do you clean this / how often do you need to clean it?

The inside of the globe should be cleaned every one to three months. To clean the litter box, press the Empty button to cycle the Globe clockwise, which will allow the litter to fall through the Waste Port and into the Waste Drawer for easy disposal. Sweep any leftover litter toward the Waste Port. Then, press either Cycle or Reset to return the Globe to the Home position. Ensure that all litter has been removed from the Globe before cleaning. Turn the Litter-Robot OFF and unplug the unit. Open the Bonnet byt pressing and holding the buttons on both sides of the Bonnet, then lift and rotate the Bonnet to its open position. Remove the Globe by using the handle, lift the Globe off the Base. Remember to remove the Carbon Filter. Clean the Globe with Litter-Robot cleaner spray or wipes, or with water and a mild soap. There are no electronic components in the Globe that can be damaged by soap and water. If the Globe has become extremely dirty, it can be soaked and cleaned with a water hose.

It's really great as all the reviews mention and has made my life so much better and cleaner for my various kitties. The only thing I dislike is that's it's nearly completely made of plastic and looks almost like wonky and dare I say cheap looking(?) just because some parts of the robot's plastic bits stick out of place. This aspect also makes the robot difficult to clean- however, is still eons cleaner than what I would have to deal with for multiple regular litter boxes. The sensors with the app are amazing, and really keep a good track of everything. Overall, was definitely worth the buy despite the high price.

This was absolutely a game changer, until it wasnt.. when it worked, it saved me alot time. But after a few months, the sensors are not detecting when the cats go potty nor when the litter gets low. I have been extremely diligent about cleaning it out every week, including cleaning the sensors. I watched the videos on the litter bot website, to see how and when to clean it and have followed those instructions to a t. I deep clean it every other month. I waited a long time to get this litterbot, bc of the price, and now im wishing I would have kist stuck with the regular ones. I've tried many different litters, as well. I have dropped a small fortune, for nothing really. Wondering if the new one they keep advertising would be better and not malfunction..

Life saver

I'm a full time employee and full time college student. It was an investment but worth it. My Nugs doesn't suffer and I don't have to worry about scooping litter

I'm a full time employee and full time college student. It was an investment but worth it. My Nugs doesn't suffer and I don't have to worry about scooping litter as another chore when I get home at 11pm. I love this product. It seems fairly easy to clean but I haven't figured that out yet.

This is life changing...

The only thing I'm sorry about is waiting so long to buy this. I saved up for it and took the plunge and it is so worth it. I can't tell you how happy I am with

The only thing I'm sorry about is waiting so long to buy this. I saved up for it and took the plunge and it is so worth it. I can't tell you how happy I am with this product. Never having to scoop litter is the best! I did buy the litter hopper with it and it is also so worth it. I just fill up the litter hopper and the machine calculates how much litter to add to the box. It cycles the litter every time one of my 4 cats use the box (after a time period so as not to scare the cat), and I only need ONE litter box. That is life changing for a family with 4 cats. I can keep it downstairs for my aged cat because now there is nothing for my dogs to "get into". It is always clean and doesn't smell. I use regular tidy cats multi cat litter and it works fine. I use regular 13 gallon bags in the waste drawer, which also work fine. The app tells me when the cats have used it (I didn't get the camera option), and the app tells me if there's an issue or when I have to empty the waste bin (which amounts to just grabbing the bag and putting a new one in). Any issues I've had (which is mostly my fault for not having enough litter or moving the box) have been resolved with the reset button. If there is an issue, the machine lights up with a color, you look at your sheet and just do what it says or press some buttons and viola, it's fixed. I can't say enough about this machine. It has been life changing, I'd give 10 stars if I could.

I have been looking into buying one for the longest, since the price is a little over my budget, but I finally got one, and let me tell you - it's fantastic. I can also go on a little getaway for like 2 days without having to worry! My younger one's the one who uses it all the time; my 5-year-old has not used it, but I hope she does. Right now, I have the litter box next to it, but eventually, I will remove it.

Quiet, efficient, and clean

Works very well. My curious cats only waited a day before using it. Only issue is they're about the same weight so it can't distinguish between them. Really happy

Software is VERY glitchy

My litter robot frequently loses connectivity with the wi-fi (nothing else in the same area of the house does this, so it’s not an issue with the wi-fi itself)

My litter robot frequently loses connectivity with the wi-fi (nothing else in the same area of the house does this, so it’s not an issue with the wi-fi itself). Every time it does this I have to reset the robot and reenter my WiFi info with the password. This happens at least twice a week. Also, EVERY time I empty the bin the robot gets stuck on ‘weighing’ mode and sends me a text that the scale has been operating for over 30 minutes. I have to reset the robot every single time. In addition, I keep my robot in sleep mode all the time because the noise it makes when it cycles scares my cat. It frequently ends changes itself into regular mode on the robot itself while the app says it is in sleep mode. The robot design and function is okay, but the software is so glitchy that it makes this litter box more of a hassle than just manually scooping a cheap box. Good thing Chewy has a great return policy. This expensive product may be headed back.

Customer support from Whisker is an ordeal, the serial number is required but is placed on the unit where it cannot be accessed easily. One of my cats seems to like it so I’m hoping these issues can be resolved. I would really like for it to work.
