Whistle is a joke and the warranty is a scam
After investing (throw away) about $500 on two Whistle Collar Units and two Annual Subscriptions for my dogs, one of them went haywire with a white light staying
After investing (throw away) about $500 on two Whistle Collar Units and two Annual Subscriptions for my dogs, one of them went haywire with a white light staying on. Customer Service told me this a known issue and that they would send a new one because it was still under their 6-month-warranty. The next day, they told me it was NOT under warranty because the unit itself has blemish marks on it. They got upset then at my negative review and disabled my 2nd unit for my other dog. I switched to Tractive and it has been working out much better! (I mean it couldn't have worked out worse but still)

It’s a decent activity tracker. GPS for dog’s location lags, not in real time. So if you are using it to track your dog’s exact location, it’s worthless. The unit does not last if your dog is a super active dog. From water to mountain trails, Whistle will break sooner than later. Ours lasted 7 months. No replacement, nor refund for my yearly subscription service. That is a very expensive activity tracker for 7 months of use. Will not recommend.

I decided to try the Whistle with one of my dogs about 1.5 yrs ago, I use an Fi on my other dog but the Whistle was cheaper so gave it a try. I’ve had nothing but problems with the Whistle. The tracking information is not accurate. I’ve taken my dog to my family’s farm & the Whistle was not able to track his location when I couldn’t find him there while the Fi was. The Whistle is absolutely awful at holding a charge. I’ve contacted customer support with all these issues and they are very unhelpful. Recently it stopped connecting to my WiFi, mind you the Fi still works with it, customer support told me to get new WiFi. The Whistle broke last week while my dogs were playing, the plastic twist piece snapped off making it unusable. Reached out to Whistle to see if they had any suggestions and they just told me to buy a new one, no 10% off code or anything useful, all they could offer was a month of the subscription comped. Which should I enjoy the Whistle would’ve been fine. However, I’ve had my other dogs Fi for probably 6 or 7 years and it may be scratched up but has never broken or has any problems with it. I would 100% recommend paying the extra money for an Fi, or just get an air tag.

Fortunately, she came back home while I was driving around to catch her I vowed I would never do that again. No escapes since then but I'm confident it will help me find her if it happens again. It was also useful as it showed my dog sitter walked her!
Does not connect to WIFI, whistle customer service horrible.
This product is really lacking. Has not kept up with latest technology so we needed to dumb down our WIFI. It still did not connect. Had to escalate to management

Three things I wish someone had told me before I bought this: (1) the warranty is only six months, (2) the product is not reliable. The LED light stopped working on mine after about a year. At two years, it stopped charging altogether; (3) customer service will not help you when it fails. After paying $120 for the device plus about $100 each year, so over $300 for two years, the only thing they would offer me to try to get me to buy another one (presumably with the same technical flaws) was a two-month credit on the membership fee. When I told them I was cancelling and going with another company because their measly $16 credit wasn’t enough to persuade me to give them another chance, they told me they would not give a refund on the six months remaining on the membership. This was a terrible experience with a company that appears to have no interest in customer retention. Do a search for best pet GPS tracker and you will find other products with much better ratings.

Best GPS Tracker
I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews for Whistle. I have used this brand for 6 years on both of my dogs and it is absolutely amazing. Battery life
I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews for Whistle. I have used this brand for 6 years on both of my dogs and it is absolutely amazing. Battery life and location accuracy are terrific. The notifications of when my pet leaves the yard are immediate. I highly recommend to everyone looking for a GPS tracker. The comfort it provides knowing my pets are safe is worth it. I have GPS trackers on my two cars also, unfortunately Whistle does not make GPS trackers for cats so I have a different brand on the cats, the battery does not last nearly as long as the Whistles do.
