Has been great so far!
I have been using it for a week and it has been working great. I haven't had to charge it since the first charge, setting it up was easy, and no false alerts on my dog escaping. my dog knows how to open doors and will get out if we forget to lock it at night. Note he always comes back and we either find him on the front porch or inside with the door wide open. He actually got out the other day and I got to see his exact route where he walked that night. To my surprise- he stays in the neighborhood. The app tells you approx what time he left, what time he came home, and where he went.
Horrible Customer Service
Doesn't deserve 1 Star. Tracks poorly on ALL Settings When it quits working, customer service at Whistle does everything under the sun to delay processing. When finally threatened with my contacting CHEWY they moved a little quicker. They request info 1 item per email, 6 items in all while all of that information requested wass provided in my product registration at purchase. if you want Mickey Mouse Whisle is your company.
Better off with a real whistle
This GPS dog tracker sat heavy on my dog's neck and needed constant charging. One romp with a neighbor dog and it fell off and I couldn't find it. It also never accurately got my address right. When I gave up looking for the thing, I went to cancel the super expensive tracking service on the website and found out I was paying $7.95 more per month than they were advertising. Don't waste your money.
No, just no.
Tried for 2 days to connect to our wi-fi. Tech support was easy to reach but couldn't fix the problem. GPS cannot be set up unless you first connect to wi-fi. The attachment that connects to the dog collar broke on both dog collars the first time they went outside with them on. I was so glad my golden retriever didn't swallow it, brought it back to me in his mouth.
Not as promised
I am sorry to report that I cannot recommend this device. We live next to some open space that has many coyotes that try to eat my small beagle. We bought Whistle Go Explore mainly to make sure we knew when he would venture into their territory. It will not. After contacting support previously and getting help that did not work, I recontacted support and finally was told what the problem was. In the app you use satellite or map imagery to mark out a "Safe Zone". Supposedly, the device will tell us when he has left the safe zone, but it does not. I now know why. The safe zone only applies if your safe zone is larger than the reach, however limited, of your wifi signal. In our case, it reaches beyond the safe zone. To be clear, it is not where I can still use my computer to access the wifi, as when the signal is too weak, the computer will not work. But the whistle still thinks it is in the "Safe Zone" with the weakest of signals, and hence will not alert us. Nor can I locate my beagle as long as the faintest wifi signal reaches the device. It is great at telling me with messages when I take my dog out somewhere in the car, which, of course, is not something I need to know. It will report how often your dog scratches, etc. It will set a goal without your input about how much activity it thinks your dog should have daily and tell you if you have or have not reached that goal. But it will not find your pet anywhere close to home!!!! It will not alert you if your dog has wandered until it is far away. And even then, it will only locate your dog periodically, not in real time. In short, if you are worried about losing your pet to wandering, theft, or predators, this device will not likely serve you. It took me months to figure this out and my 90 day free trial is over, so I have wasted about $200 for nothing.
we do not leave home without it!
This is my third whistle device, and overall I am pleased with the product. I live in a remote area, and our cell tower coverage is not the best. With that said, the device works well most of the time, but somedays are very slow & the device has trouble connecting to the app. I dont believe this to be a problem with the device itself but my location. The Go/Explore is a little bulky and probably not a good fit for a small dog, but works well for my 40lb beagle who is an avid runner. We have close to 300 acres of farmland/woods we travel and this helps me keep up with him while he free runs. Piece of mind 150%! I also enjoy the activity tracking & all the alerts you can set up through the app. Def worth the money in my opinion.
nice, fits on collar
happy with being able to find my dogs when taking them into the fields and woods
The Whistle Go would never connect to my Wi-Fi, it kept saying my password was incorrect, every device I have has no problem connecting to my Wi-Fi with the same password.
Not Perfect but Not Bad
Thankfully, I've not had to test the "Lost Pet" function yet. Maybe I should just to see how it works. Seemed to take a few days to establish location and set itself up properly. There's sometime a fairly significant delay -- way more the 3-6 minutes before it realizes the pet is outside the safe zone. We drove to a dog park about 6 miles from home and it took us 15 or so minutes. It was only upon arriving that I got the first notification. Also the "Activity" tracker seems a bit random. One day with 45 minutes of steady activity at dog park indicated less than 65% of another day of a couple walks and running in the house. But still better than nothing and provides some nice features as well as piece of mind.
Pretty good as a cat tracker
I am using this to track my cat around the neighborhood, which I know is not the advertised use. It works pretty well, but there's one design feature that is annoying. In order for the "Find My Pet" feature to turn on, to be able to actually see where my cat is, she has to get out of range of our WiFi signal. And it turns out our WiFi signal reaches pretty far. I understand that this is a way to save battery. But I wish there was a way to override this and get the app to show me where my cat is when I want it to. Right now, we turn off our WiFi to find our cat. Which isn't always do-able when people are working in the middle of the day. But when we do, it works well - it's accurate enough that we can get to the general location (like the backyard, two doors down) and usually find her when it's time to come inside.
