Is the chicken cooked or raw prior to being freeze-dried?

Answer by ChewyFeb 02, 2025
The chicken is fully cooked prior to being freeze-dried. In addition, Whole Life uses a USDA approved heating lethality step in two separate parts of their process to ensure the products are free from harmful bacteria. Those steps take place during the cooking of the chicken and then again in the final phase of freeze drying where they heat the protein to an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

How much lactose is in the product?

Answer by ChewyJun 24, 2024
Whole Life does not measure this supplement for its lactose content. The yogurt used in the product is Danone Plain Greek Yogurt. There are no studies on pets with lactose intolerance, however many people with lactose intolerance can enjoy this yogurt. Because of its straining and fermentation processes, Greek yogurt has less lactose than regular yogurt, milk and even ice cream. Its live and active cultures help break down the lactose it contains, making it easier to digest. The recommendation would be to try it in very small doses and increase once it is established that there is no reaction.

How long does it take to start working?

Answer by ChewyJun 18, 2024

How much phosphorus is in this product?

It is a whole food supplement I can gently add to my guys canned food for some digestive help for my cats to help soften my older cats constipated stool. Again I’m happy that it has yogurt as one of the ingredients and that I can add it to their food just a little at a time per a can of wet food. My two cats are on a powdered probiotic supplement now and their kitty litter box looks good, but going forward I would rather try a whole food supplement as a probiotic supplement so going gently with this Whole Life digestive supplement, slowly a little at a time is the plan.

This has been a good treat for my two boys for years, but I've noticed that it's no longer ground as fine as it was, and doesn't absorb the water as well. And I am finding pieces of claws, some of them sharp. I've been checking each serving and removing any claws to be on the safe side, but it's time to look for an alternative.

Didn’t Work Out

My senior cat did refused it from the first time I offered it to him. I even tried to mix it with his pate and he refused it. This is my cat. Others may love

My cats are not picky eaters, but they were not into this at all. I even tried just splitting a tablespoon between all three of them and they ere not having it

My cats are not picky eaters, but they were not into this at all. I even tried just splitting a tablespoon between all three of them and they ere not having it. Which is a huge bummer because they really need it. My dog, however...big fan. And he is picky.

No noticeable changes

Can’t really tell whether with or without, if it does much. Certainly doesn’t hurt him but does not help either.

Why fix what's not broken?!

My 2 senior cats, 11 and 12, loved just the plain freeze-dried pumpkin that was discontinued for this product. They will not touch this new product and it doesn't

My 2 senior cats, 11 and 12, loved just the plain freeze-dried pumpkin that was discontinued for this product. They will not touch this new product and it doesn't puree in water like the pumpkin did which is one of the things that made me love that product. This product just kinda floats in wayer and doesn't become like a broth/puree. Please bring back the 100% Freeze-dried pumpkin powder!

She likes it.

Callie is old (14 yo) and she’s a very picky eater, and she actually likes this. I’m feeding her small amounts because she had not been eating much lately.
