What secures this gate if used as a freestanding unit as shown in photo 1? What stabilizes it so the pup doesn't knock it over or pull it down?

The panels are designed to be connected to each other, the playpen should be set up to make a stable pattern so that the item can stand on its own and create a boundary for the dog. The playpen isn't anchored or secured to the ground, so it mostly suitable for pets that respect boundaries as it can be knocked over.

What is the linear length of both the 6 and 8 panel fences?

The linear length of the 6- panel is 150 inches, the linear length of the 8-panel is 200 inches and the linear length of the 12-panel is 300 inches.

More suitable for outdoors

I set up this playpen indoors for my 8 month old pit mix puppy and she managed to jump out of it in less than 5 minutes. I have tile floor so there’s no way to make it stay in place and if your pup is active they will move it around easily. Very easy to put together. I would recommend this for a pup who isn’t very active and wouldn’t try to jump out.

LEFT THE FOOD, BEDS AND LITTER PANS IN THE ENCLOSURE AND THE KITS FELT SAFE IN THEIR ENCLOSED AREA. I REALLY LIKED THE FLEXIBILITY OF BEING ABLE TO CONNECT THE PANELS IN ANY SIZE AND CONFIGURATION I WANTED. IT'S WELL MADE AND THE PANELS CONNECT VERY EASILY. WOULD RECOMMMEND THIS PRODUCT.
