I had high hopes for Zeal Canada Gently Air Dried Chicken Recipe, but it ended up being a letdown. The pieces are hard and dry, despite being marketed as “gently air dried.” All of my six shop cats showed interest at first, but quickly refused to eat it. I gave the bag to my sister, and her cat also refused to eat it. She gave it to a friend and her cat refused it as well. I expected better palatability and overall quality based on how this product is described. Instead, it didn’t meet expectations, and my cats simply wouldn’t eat it. Unfortunately, I won’t be choosing this food again.

When mixed in, she often left this as the last thing in the bowl, so it didn’t quite work as a meal topper for us. Once I switched and started using it as part of her nightly treats, it was a completely different experience. She really seemed to enjoy it and began looking forward to it each night. She liked it enough that I even caught her trying to get into the cabinet where it’s stored—which is pretty impressive for a cat! Overall, it may not be ideal for mixing with kibble for more selective cats, but it works very well as a high-value treat. I’d definitely purchase it again with that use in mind.

The size of the food pieces are small enough for easy eating and have a soft texture allowing cats with possible dental sensitivities to eat comfortably. Even the smell of the food is tempting! I did my research on this brand and I am impressed by the I have noticed a list of high-quality ingredients like real chicken, freeze-dried salmon and organ meat. I have also read that because the meat goes through a natural air-drying process, it helps retain all the essential nutrients, making it very nutritious for my kitty’s health. My 10 year old kitty was recently diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, so I am on a quest to only offer him top quality and species appropriate food. I have struggled to find an appropriate dry food for my cat, but I’m hoping after while of feeding him high-quality food like Zeal Canada gentle air dried cat food his health will improve.

I was pleasantly surprised when he loved this high quality 96 percent meat based food. He was curious about the bag before so even got it opened and absolutely devoured it and was nudging the bag for more! This food is 96 percent air dried meat and organs with a few well thought out extras like bamboo fiber and egg shells to make it a complete meal. First time feeding it but if today is any indication this will be his new dry food.

I am still in the introductory phase with this food. My Ragdoll cat is getting older and I want to upgrade his nutrition. The quality of the ingredients of Zeal impressive. It's the right size of nugget and he seems to like the smell. He is very curious so I am hoping he will come to love it. He can be quite fussy. It would definitely be an upgrade from the food he is presently eating. Due to the clean ingredient list, I will definitely try another protein. I am very hopeful!! I know it's cat food but my pup loves it! She only gets it as an occasional snack. I guess I will need to get their dog food now!!
