So glad that I decided to test run this before leaving for vacation. I used the pellets included and followed the directions carefully. This dispenser only gave out a single (1) pellet every 24 hours. Two different test runs gave the same results. I usually like Zoo Med products, but this one needs to go back to the engineers for tweaking.
the feeder gets jammed w/food, cannot tell what time it feeds. not a good item
This is the most ridiculous fish feeder I've tried so far. Only one type of fish food can be used for this. The hole that the food goes into is so small that the food gets stuck in it.
Despenses the food way too fast. The first time around it dumped all the food
The pellets that come in the package are too big to fit through the hole. They need to be crushed or used with smaller pellets. The feeder functions ok otherwise.
It works fine and dispenses most pellet types. It's easy to attach. The difficult thing to figure out how to set when it feeds the fish. The mechanism works like a watch hand, so it moves very slowly instead of spinning once a day, which is what I'm used to, so it was just a matter of making sure the cone was pointed downwards at the time I wanted it to feed. My biggest issue with it is that it feeds too much for a betta. These guys don't need a ton of food, and in a small tank, overfeeding can be a big issue, and I was really hoping that getting a feeder specific to a betta would mean it fed the right amount. I will probably only use it while on vacation.
Overall I like it. It worked well so far, I use it with regular Betta fish food, that is a bit smaller pellets from this package. I like it and my fish too!
A lot of reviews complain about filling it but I had no problems. You just fill one side like a bowl and click the other half on top of it, not sure Why it’s hard for some not to spill in this process. Very simple, slowly does one rotation in 24 hours and drops out about 4 pellets. I use an off brand better pellet and it works fine.
Meet my Therapeutic Betta at Work, Tony Stark. This feeder works perfect but you have to use pellets it comes. See my pictures, it fits perfect with the small tank I have.
Not meant for tanks with lids but wanted to try it to see and now I know.
