How long do these take to work well? For example, how long before a nail grooming event for a 12 lb Jack Russell Terrier would give best results? If their nail appointment is 9:30 am should 2 tablets be given at 7:30 am or what time would be best for calmest results?
Answer by ChewyOct 14, 2019
It is recommended to give this supplement 24 hours before a stressful event.

The smell!!!

These smell so bad! My dogs will not touch them. I can not stand the smell. It smells like food left in standing water in a sink for a week! Gross! Makes me gag! My dogs love to roll in poo and eat the weirdest things, but they will not touch these. Even with the lid on, you can smell these things. I have no idea if they work or not because my dogs will not touch them. My oldest dog will usually eat anything thrown at him, but not these. Do not waste your money if you are sensitive to smells.

Great Calming product

I used these on my shepherd mix rescue and they worked better than prescribed meds from the vet. Like all calming meds, if you can give it ~1/2 hour before they are going to get worked up, they work the best. Not always possible, but that’s how all calming things work best. My dog just hated fireworks, and I live in a neighborhood where they set them off. It was nice to have something natural to give her. This was the best out there. I wish they’d make a cat formula!

this was a no go

My dog wouldn't eat them. They have a really strong smell that initally put her off. I mixed it with her food and she still refused. I think if it had a meat smell or flavor to it, it might have worked, but I had to throw them all out because the smell bothered her so much

Good product

Works well if you DON'T use the dose guidelines. I give 1 ~ 1 1/2 Chew to my 125 lb Mastiff and it works Great! My Terrier gets 1/4 ~ 1/2 chew and it works Great! I found the dose guidelines are NOT CORRECT...IN THIS CASE LESS IS BEST I SUGGEST START WITH A 1/4 ~ 1/2 Chew and see how it works for your Pup. I made the mistake of giving the suggested dose & found it to be way to MUCH...Causing reverse affects. In this case a little goes a long way. Trial and error don't need a lot to get the needed results. Dose charts is way off the mark.

I gag opening them :(

They smell horrible and my dog looks at me like I’m nuts for trying to get her to eat it.

Smells so bad!

I guess a dog would like how smelly these are but its the worst smelling dog product ive ever bought! Like something between weed and horse poop. When my dog gets scared he wont even take treats, but sometimes he would eat these. I'm sure sure if they worked. Iv'e tried other brands and I could't really tell if they worked either and I gave the right amount for my dog. I had to put these in a mason jar because just in this little container it smelled up my pantry.

Works really well!

I was nervous buting these based off the mixed reviews. I'm really glad I did because they works so well! My boy is a ball of anxiety in the car, at the vet, or at the groomer. These chews calm him down so well! Its almost like a light switch when they kick in! Hes so chill. I love it! So much better than a prescription drug! Try these out! They are Chompie approved!

Awful Smell

These chews have a horrendous smell that eventually emanates from your dog. Although my dog is calmer the smell is hideous.

Adverse response

We notice that when we give these to our dog, his behavior changes immediately-not in a good way. He is incredibly hyper when people come over, so we thought this may be a good way to quell that. He will not leave our side, to the point of sitting on our feet because he can't get close enough to us. He also gets trembly the next day. I'm guessing it is the result of all of the energy that he usually exerts being hindered, thus giving him the shakes. Max dose for his weight says 6; we give him 2. We've tried it on 3 occasions, and will no longer use this product. If I could rate 0 stars, I would.

Disgusting Cat Pee Smell

Absolutely the worst smelling things I have ever opened. Will not suggest these to anyone. I smothered one with peanut butter and my dog still wouldn’t touch!
