Hello, why is this called “complete” if it is supposed to be used as supplemental feeding, not as main cat food?

This food is a complete and balanced diet made with the finest fresh ingredients. It has added vitamins and minerals to meet all of your cat's dietary needs. Feed your cat 3 cans per day for every 8 lbs of body weight. Adjust as necessary for less active or more active cats.
