The salmon itself is caught and cut into cubes by a private contractor located in Alaska. Those salmon cubes are then flash frozen and shipped to our freeze dryer in Oregon, USA

What is your company's testing process for bacteria like e. coli and salmonella? How can I be sure these are safe?

Life Essentials Freeze Dried Salmon treats have testing done on each and every batch. It's called a micro and it covers salmonella, E. coli, SPC and coliform as well as a few other items. This testing is done at the factory and then once again by the USDA during random inspections.

My dog loves this salmon! He growing up seemed to stop liking his kibble...the same kibble he loved as a puppy. If I take three or four of these little cubes and chop them up and top his food he eats every bit, without fail. It was an easy solution to our problem. I also like that this company tests for microbes before freeze drying and well as batch testing after. That was important to me.

I have a tortie with FIV and she has had dental surgery recently and I have had a battle with her not wanting to eat or not feeling well enough to eat. She will be excited to eat one day and as soon as I order more, she won't even bother with it anymore. It is very frustrating as I want to be healthy and gain some weight. I have ordered so much food and ive had to donate just as much. I have had these before and she did like them but with her many teeth missing I overlooked these. Recently once again she stopped eating a newer food she was gobbling down. I ordered and crushed the cubes into dust over the food, and put some drips hot water (which is one of the ways you can give this as per the instructions) on top of her food she was not willing to eat. SHE ATE IT AND WANTED MORE. I can crush this up over any of her foods and she will eat it. I have tried toppers but this is something she no doubt will eat and continue to eat. If you are having trouble, try the salmon and just crush it and warm it up. Hope this helps someone and your lil fur baby.

The chicken littles have hard pieces as well but 70% can be crumbled, rest needed to be thrown out. Beef sirloin and Salmon flavors are totally unusable. Be aware if you are ordering for cats.

A friend gave me her half-full bag of tjis stuff after her cat sadly passed. My two cats are so obsessed with it that I had to buy more. But the biggest benefit is that my older cat (age 13) is noticeably sleeker and has shinier fur. She seems more limber and active as well. We jokingly call it her “stinky salmon” bc it doesn’t smell palatable to our human noses, but the cats absolutely adore it.

My cat is a fussy eater. She will only eat freeze dried salmon. This product is just the right size for her and easy to use just put several pieces in her dish right out of the bag. There is no skin on the salmon like the other brand. I would peel the skin off each piece because it was extremely dry with very sharp edges that can get caught in her throat. She likes this brand. I will continue to order it.
