I ordered this food because it is just a little higher quality than what I normally feed my dogs. My one dog did fine with it, however my Frenchie has just, how do I put this, developed major flatulence (even though I introduced it gradually). I like to give both dogs the same food so unfortunately will probably go back to what I normally feed them. Good food ... just not a good fit for a flatulence-prone Frenchie!!
I rescued a 3-year old 69 pound (at the time, now she’s 74 pounds) german shepherd and we were looking into the right food to buy her. I wanted something with limited ingredients for only the necessary ones, and I was looking for a good price. I felt the price for this was significantly less than other brands, so I wanted to try it. We feed her this and some JustFood For Dogs wet food and she gobbles it up.
Both dogs loved it, although neither are very picky. As soon as I opened the bag they were excited to try it. I see a lot of reviews about price but honestly, I switched from Blue Wilderness and this was $20 cheaper with 4lbs more of food. I'll be sticking with this brand for a while, it ticked off all the boxes: Lower Kcal than Blue, Includes Grains, Deboned Chicken, FIsh oil for coats, reasonably priced, and most importantly, dogs loved it.
The food gave my dogs horrible diarrhea. This could be because they have never eaten anything but Eukanuba. Please get Eukanuba small bites back.
As many have mentioned, I’ve been using this food and brand for a while and recently noticed the large (almost $20) spike in price. I was happily feeding this as an alternative to Nutro due to the price and looks like it’s the same price now but Nutro has a bigger bag. It’s unfortunate they didn’t even address the price increase with those of us who have been using it for so long. I had it on auto ship and everything but will likely find a different food.
I bought this for my heeler because I was having a really hard time keeping him at a healthy weight. He’s constantly moving so he burns a ton of calories and was a little skinny. Even when I increased the amount of his old food he still wasn’t gaining weight, and if he did it wouldn’t stay on. I combined this with the same brand wet food and he soon got to the perfect weight. I was able to stop the wet food and he maintained his healthy weight. However, I ended up switching because he didn’t love it, which is my only reason for 4 stars. He ate it just fine snd wasn’t picky or anything, but he was never excited for dinner time. With his old food and now his new food he loves to eat again.
My dog has done great on this food for years, but only recently I've noticed just how much the price has spiked. Almost twenty dollars more per bag than when I first started purchasing this. I'll be switching to something less expensive.
My dog liked this food but vomited frequently while on it. We switched his food and things significantly improved.
I switched my dog to this after he kept eating a lot of grass and scooting his butt across the floor. I knew he needed more fiber, which this food has. He loves the American Journey! And his butt scooting and grass eating has stopped!!
I've been giving my two dogs this food for as long as I've had them. Transitioned from the puppy food to this food. The price increase is making it hard to be able to afford to keep buying this brand, especially when I'm having to buy a 28lb bag every few months.....I really hope the price goes back down at some point. I would really hate having to move my pups on to a different brand :/
