We bought this because our dog keeps reinjuring his shoulder and the description said it could be used for muscle repair. After his second dose (the 1 tsp/day they recommended), he vomited so we stopped giving it to him. He continued to vomit 2-3 times a day for the next 3 days, then it finally stopped. Not saying we're 100% certain it was due to this or that it will happen to other dogs, but this was the only thing new to his diet. I threw it away.

I have been breeding Golden Retrievers for 33 years. Once my dogs reach 10 yrs. old with no obvious muscle loss in the rear, I start them on a half dose of Muscle up and by the time they turn 11 (or earlier if needed) I have them on the full dose. I have found over the years that this stuff works magic for a breed like mine to help HOLD ON to their muscles...not rebuild. Think of this as a preventative measure. My breed is known for loosing massive muscle in the rear as they age...this is the best product I have ever found, I would not be without it for the 10 yr. olds and above. Plus I use the Equine version on my old horses. The amount to give is very vague, my holistic vet says to give a 75# Golden 4tsp. per day, or a 50# 3tsp. daily. I sprinkle it on their food and they love it. Hope this helps the rest of you!

Too much salt, can't use it

I've used Gamma Oryzanol many years and find it to be very helpful for elderly and debilitated animals. It truly does wonders for building muscle and overall strength

I've used Gamma Oryzanol many years and find it to be very helpful for elderly and debilitated animals. It truly does wonders for building muscle and overall strength. I usually have good luck with Animed products but I'm really disappointed in this supplement. I'm sure the Gamma Oryzanol content is fine however they use salt as a carrier and it's so Salty I don't dare give it to my animals at all. Salt is really bad for heart and kidneys so it's a big no no for seniors especially and they are the ones who need it the most. If you doubt me, taste it! It tastes like it's right out of the salt shaker. I really hope they will change the formula to something more senior friendly in the meantime I guess I'll throw this away and go back to buying them the oryzanol made for humans

My 70lb dog tried to get up one morning and couldn't move her back legs, she was fine the day before. I couldn't afford a vet bill I didn't know what to do, I would put a rolled up towel under her and help her up so she could go outside, after a couple of days I started googling to find out what could be wrong, I came across Chewy website. I finally decided to order muscle-up. I just can't believe the results I got just after three days of my dog taking it, she's walking really good by herself now, not perfect but she's old.
