My 45lbs dog was able to get one error free use out of this treat dispenser before the button stopped functioning part of the time when pressed. I tried troubleshooting by replacing the batteries, moving the button closer to the unit, pressing it myself... Nothing fixed the issue. You can tell when it is not functioning as the button stops making noise when pressed. Currently on our 3rd use the button works about 1/3 of the time, which is disappointing to me and confusing to the dog.
It doesn't take long to learn to connect the remote button with the treat dispenser. The only trouble is when the excitement makes him pounce on the remote button or wrangle with it like a toy because if that happens, sometimes it knocks the little battery compartment open a smidge so that it dislodges a connection. I'm sure we'll get better at it! It is so much fun watching Jack get his own treats. You can tell he gets a kick out of it - I sure do. I love how you can control how much food or treat is dispensed and even includes a cute little scoop to fill with that fits perfectly. I highly recommend. Its fun and interactive
Updating my previous review after a few months of regular (not daily) use. The button activating the feeder has stopped functioning. After replacing batteries in both the feeder and button, still nothing from it. Going to contact the company, but wanted to make note on the longevity.
This is a great thing for metal stimulation when it works. My dog is usually pretty exhausted after running back and forth. But, sometimes when the button is pushed, it doesn't dispense food. I leave the cover off so I have easy access to the reset button.
Have to slowly get them used to it but once they figure it out, game on!
Our dog loves this. She learned how to use in an afternoon. We suction cup the button to the fridge and put the base in another room. We will chop carrots to keep it a little healthier.
This was an amazing product for single use. Now the remote stopped working. Tried everything including changing the batteries even though they were new. Would love to exchange, but no longer in stock. Sad, because the pups caught on and really enjoyed it,
Just not for my pets. I have 4 cats and none of them could grasp the concept that they have to press the button to get treats. They acted like stepping on the button was like stepping into water. and the sound that it makes when you hit the button scared my skittish cats. It's a great concept and an affordable way to accomplish the task so I wouldn't tell anyone they shouldn't buy it. Just be prepared to watch it sit and take up space through no fault of the manufacturer. Please do not let this review deter you from trying.
The noises the button makes are LOUD, alarming our dog, and are not able to be turned off. The treat dispenser is also hit or miss sometimes.
This is such a fun thing for our mini aussie to do. Took her about 15 minutes to learn to use it. Unfortunately, after about 2 weeks of playing with it, the ball does not turn completely. Sometimes it takes her 4 touches on the ball to get a full turn of the treat dispenser. Very disappointed in the performance of this toy. There are not instructions on what to do if this happens. Better instructions are needed on how to operate the dispenser.
