what is easier for a very old cat, the 3 steps or the 4 steps ?

Our older cat actually prefers the 3 step over the 4 step (we bought the both) because the 3 step model has wider steps and the fabric covering is more plush than on the 4 step model. He is more tentative going up and down the 4 step model because the steps are narrower than the 3 step model. Both models are great. We bought both and let our 4 cats decide which they prefer best. In our house, hands down, it's the 3 step model!

How tall are the steps? I can’t figure out in the dimensions. Thank you.

Both the 3 step and 4 step models measure 25 inches tall. The difference between the 3 step and the 4 step models, is the height difference between each step. The 3 step version has a greater difference in height between each step compared to the 4 step version. The step height of the 3-step is about 7.8 inches. The step height of the 4-step is about 5.9 inches.

Would like to know if these steps are removable......in other words..you can use two or three if you want? have an very obese cat who can climb but not too good, trying to get him to work out a bit so to speak with diet management.

Quality & Ease of setup

I had two of these for many years but after constant use and wear and tear from my fat cats, they needed a new one.Others that I purchased were difficult to construct

I had two of these for many years but after constant use and wear and tear from my fat cats, they needed a new one.Others that I purchased were difficult to construct and not one of my three cats would use them. Huge wast of money. When I found this one one on Chewy, I purchased immediately because I knew my cats would use it and also because of the ease of putting it together. As soon as I put it in it’s spot, they were using it. I have a high bed and this is the perfect height for them to get on top of it. Cats will eventually destroy the fabric but having sisal posts instead would eventually come unraveled and make a mess. My only complaint is that FedEx no longer delivers to my house so I have to drive up the street to the mailboxes and the box was laying in the snow. I’m 74 yrs old and getting this heavy package into my cat wasn’t easy. I have always loved Chewy and ordered all of my pet’s supplies for years. But had to go elsewhere because of FedEx being so unreliable and lazy. When I found these steps here, I took a chance and very happy I did. Best customer service and products ANYWHERE. I know I’ll be back again , even with FedEx being so awful.

Almost great. Decent fabric covering the steps and solid enough base where I can pick it up and move it around. The tallest step wobbles some because it it only secured at the bottom. I debate rigging something to bind it to the second step - we'll see. It took my older cat about two weeks to start using the steps. I tricked her onto the steps and then she eventually figured it out to get up on the bed easier. The one who can still jump the entire way does not use it.

Both of these gals, see the steps as fun and just an enchanting Cat tree. Not realizing it is also helping them with their inability to get onto the bed easily. They don’t fill at all incapable, just pampered. :-)

Highly Rated Steps for older cat

This requires assembly with an Allen wrench (provided). It was easy to assemble, I checked it a few days later and tightened it more. Stella (age 9) hasn’t tried

Best stairs on out there

We have bought many stairs over the years. We have some of these since 2014 and our senior prefers them. They work great for small dogs, the stairs width is 9" works

Cat wouldn't get near it!

Steps are too narrow....ended up getting an alternative. Chewy was GREAT about the return. I simply donated this item to the local no kill shelter and Chewy refunded
