In the description it says the formula has prebiotics and digestive enzymes but only the mushrooms are listed in the ingredients. What enzymes and prebiotics are in there and why aren’t they listed?
Answer by ChewySep 23, 2018
This supplement contains naturally-occurring digestive enzymes, fiber and prebiotics from the Reishi (Ganoderma Lucidum) for digestive health.

I thought dogs could not have mushrooms, that mushrooms are bad for dogs??
Answer by ChewyMar 04, 2020
Dogs can eat some kinds of mushrooms. While wild mushrooms should be avoided, all the mushrooms in this supplement are safe for dogs and this supplement has many health benefits.

Does this product have carbs?
Answer by ChewySep 03, 2020
This Organic Mushroom Complex supplement does not have added carbohydrates. However, it does help breakdown the already existing carbohydrates in the pet's body.

The directions for my dog based on her weight says 1 scoop daily. My dog tends to have a sensitive stomach. Could I divide that dosage and administer 1/2 dose per meal instead? Also, do you know what would 1 scoop be equivalent to in teaspoons?
Answer by ChewyMay 16, 2018
The recommended method is to administer orally, once per day. Each scoop is 1 gram, which is 1/5th of a teaspoon.

Murray's Musings

A view from a kitty. I'm Murray Nicholas, I have lung cancer. My mumma got this 4 me to see if helps. Although I'd rather not have 2 have it, I don't mind the taste. It'z easy 2 dissolve and mix in with my food.

Supportive care

My geriatric dog recently had a growth removed which was cancerous. I put her on this is it provides immune support and is an anti-cancer supplement.

maybe I’m crazy

Maybe I’m crazy but I started my 9 year old Mastiff on a double dose of this a few months ago when she was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. There has been amazing stability while she’s on it. She ran out of the mushrooms for a couple weeks and began limping and using her leg less. She’s been back on them for a couple days and is using her leg quite a bit more.

A Daily Addition to My Dogs' Raw Food Diet

I've always known that the cancer rates in dogs was high, but it wasn't something I focused on until we received our first cancer diagnosis; and then our second. Today, all of my dogs get a mushroom supplement added to their diet - I alternate Mushroom Complex with a similar product (I like variety due to supply line slow downs). We lost a dog to cancer in 2020, so I began adding Mushroom Complex to her brother's diet and he's still with us and will be 12 years old in 2022. Another dog was diagnosed with canine lymphoma in 2021 and I began adding mushroom complex to his diet to support his immune system as his body keeps the cancer at bay. I add the powder to my dogs' raw meals. Two scoops for my dogs that need extra support and one scoop daily for our other two dogs. The powder is very fine and the taste doesn't bother the dogs. It's easy to mix in and although the container is small, it lasts a long time. I keep it on a recurring shipment so that I never run out.

Health is better

My dog has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. He has a heart murmur and at 13 years isn’t a good candidate for surgery. I started him on this a week ago. He has perked up and is doing better. Tumors seem smaller.

Contains mycelium (stems)

I changed from this to 5 Defenders because I was told to use only the fruity bodies of the mushrooms and the mycelium is the stems. I am surprised this company uses the stems. Maybe that's why the cost is lower than most.

Very good brand

My husband and I recently began using Dr Mercola supplements for us. They are excellent. It was so neat to see this brand on Chewy for pets. Now our boys get their Dr Mercola everyday like we do.

CATS LOVE IT

I'll start by saying Dr. Mercola makes wonderful, safe, wholistic supplements for cats. The ingredients are high quality, and balanced, containing no harmful additives or synthetics. The only issue I've ever had with Dr. Mercola products is their palatability. I admit my cats are especially finicky. It can be hard to sneak sprinkled powders into their food. I'm happy to report that Dr. Mercola's Mushroom Complex does not have this issue. My cats LOVE it. I gave four stars because it's too early to see whether or not my kitties appear to enjoy improved health with this particular supplement. I rushed to post a positive review because my cate are so pleased with the taste. I'll update to five stars once the evidence is in.

Cat’s point of view

My picky cats would not even try this despite a number of different options. Thus no opinion on behavior and health effects.

Made my dogs lethargic

I gave this to 2 of my dogs and one was very lethargic and wasnt herself. I had her on it for 3 days. Once I took her off she was back to her normal self again. I will never give her this ever again. My other dog started drooling on this product, so both of them are totally off and are back to their selves again. I wasted my money. My dogs got worse not better.
