No toy is indestructible. Supervise your pet when using since small parts can present a choking hazard or internal blockage. Discontinue use if the toy is damaged. Keep out of reach of children.
Keep an eye out for wear and tear. Within a month or so, most dogs chew Benebone into submission. Rice-sized flakes are OK, but if it looks like larger chunks are about to come off, it's time to replace.
The time has come, I finally need to buy a replacement after over six months of daily chewing from my large dog. He loves this stick, and the texture seems to be a tiny bit softer than other "flavors" of nylon toys he's tried. He's managed to chew off half of the toy at this point, but never got a big chunk off. I'd recommend this toy to anybody to try; it's the only type of toy my dog will really go to town chewing on. Watch where you step though! This toy is worse than a lego
These stick toys say they are safe for dogs so that is why I bought 2, my little golden retriever puppy has been chewing on it for 3 days off and on and she starts gagging/puking like something is stuck in her throat…. She began to eat her hair off her blanket and the hair in her kennel so we googled it and google stated “dogs will eat their hair if they are having stomach or intestinal issues” well only thing she had different was this stick toy! This is dangerous as little splinters come off of it and the dog swallows it… this toy will cost you vet bills for sure. I don’t understand how chewy allows them to sell these.
My large dogs love the largest sized Benebone maple flavored chew sticks. They are expensive, however, because they are safe for the most aggressive chewers they last a long time. I don't worry about them chewing and swallowing this product. So no expensive surgeries to remove parts of chew toys stuck in the intestines or the esophagus. Will order again.
Our 7 month old lab is a huge fan of chewing sticks. I figured I'd give this a try to help ease on the amount of bully sticks we were going through as well as give her something close to a tree branch. She LOVES it! I was surprised at how heavy it is, so if you have a glass table and a dog that likes to toss their toys when playing, be careful. We will be keeping one of these in the house at all times now.
My German Shepherd Pit Bull mix loves this toy! We have had it for about 2 months and it’s still going strong. Especially helpful when raining outside all day and my dog needs something else to relax with.
I bought this for my Catahoula with high hopes. She loves elk antlers but they’re so expensive. Bought this based on positive reviews but I had to take it away from her in less than a week. Pieces of this Benebone chew were breaking off in no time flat. Noticed her coughing but didn’t know the cause right away. Next day I was picking up multiple pieces that had broken off of this chew ranging from the size of fry rice to the size of a puffed cheeseball. Thankfully she spit out the larger pieces! This could cause choking and intestinal damage/blockage. Run the other way.
My 100lb Akita LOVES this bone. It has withstood two months of intense chewing and is still in good condition! This has exceeded expectations, and has lasted a lot longer than I thought!
I've been buying lots of similar material toys over the years and they have lasted the ordinary amount of time. These though are having a much shorter life span. They are big and the dogs can really get a large chunk in their back teeth and clamp down. They have been able to break large chunks off at a time instead of unnoticeable chips. Once they discovered that it was game over and into the trash they go. Stick with the Y shaped ones on any of the others honestly.
This is my dogs' preferred chewing toy. I probably should have gotten a smaller version as this is heavy, but they chewed through the small one fairly quickly.
I have a 5 year old German Shepherd who is a true "German Shredder." She is pretty picky about her chew toys however, THIS chew stick quickly became her favorite! It is holding up really well to get aggressive chewing. I will definitely buy this again!
