Does this bone get sharp edges when chewed?

Answer by ChewyDec 23, 2018
The nylon material used in this toy could develop sharp edges depending on your dog's chewing style. It's recommended to always monitor your pet while she's chewing and remove toy if it become damaaged.

What size is recommended for an adult German Shorthair Pointer and an adult Weimaraner?

Answer by ChewyNov 08, 2018
The Small measures approximately 5.5 x 5 x 3 inches and is recommended for pets up to 30 pounds. The Medium measures approximately 6.6 x 6.5 x 3.7 inches and is recommended for pets under 60 pounds. The Large measures approximately 7.7 x 7 x 4 inches and is recommended for pets under 90 pounds.

Is it safe

Answer by ChewyNov 10, 2022
Since it’s a durable nylon chew, Benebones are pretty hard and durable. You can’t make an indent on the product with your fingernail, however hard you try. So be sure your pup has strong, healthy teeth and can handle harder chews such as antlers and real bones. Keep an eye out for wear and tear. Within a month or so, most dogs chew Benebone into submission. Rice-sized flakes are okay, but if it looks like larger chunks are about to come off, it’s time to replace them. Please check the image for reference.

I have 5 high power chewers and finding them things that they like and that last can be a challenge. Not only do these chews wear down instead of cracking into small pieces that could be a choking hazzard, they are long lasting and my dogs just love them. One of my dogs is allergic to bacon and chicken, so finding a chew that tastes good and meets his medical needs can be a challenge, but the Benebone Maplestick does it all! I highly recommend these!

We've used Benebone toys for many years now. It is among the few that stand up to our Corgis aggressive chewing and they are more attracted to them than many other brands. Benebone is a go to for us and our "cheeky little raptors".

Recently ordered our dog the large maplestick. Our young lab loves these and goes through many. They used to last but within one day this bone shattered. Seems like they are hollow now (see picture) making them easily break. Dog got a large chunk off.

Both my German Shepherds love this along with the wishbone shaped Benebone. They are both pretty strong chewers and will spend a long time lying on the floor having a relaxing chomp with one Benebone for each. These toys last about a month before they need replacing. And that is just when I think they look too rough; I haven’t seen any pieces come off. I will keep buying these.

Cabin fever solution

This is a great item to help my dog deal with her cabin fever. Her health issues require her to avoid extreme cold so she needs indoor options

Toughest of all the benebones

Not sure if its the way this one benebone is made compared to all its counterparts, but this is the one that seems to hold out the longest from all the others!

Not sure if its the way this one benebone is made compared to all its counterparts, but this is the one that seems to hold out the longest from all the others! Both my pups (60lbs & 30lbs) love all these bones to gnaw on. But the Maplestick just seems to outlast the rest!

Great toy for chewers

My 15 lb dachshund chews through these so quickly, but he goes crazy for them! We replace them frequently (monthly probably) because pieces do fall off of them,

I have tried every chew toy under the sun even the labeled heavy chewer and my dog destroyed all of them in a day or two. The only thing that survived my dog was a deer antler, until I found this brand. I think these might even last longer than the antler. My dog is 5 years old not some young pup.

Better size

At least this time they came at the right size, last time I ordered I got medium instead of small, and I couldn’t get it corrected
