I got a few of these so I can hang one along the back wall of each travel cage to keep my flock entertained while they have to stay inside. It looks fab, and my birds love it. I don't detect any unnatural smells, just the natural smell of dried seagrass.
This was so much bigger than I thought it was going to be and my Hahns macaw adores it! He loves to climb, chew and forage it. I often see him sitting on top of it too. It’s a winner in our household and I’m glad I bought 2!
I hung this vertically in the cage. My Budgies seemed to enjoy perching on it & of course they tore it up. No climbing nor did I witness them playing with the attached toys. After trimming the shredded side I folded it & stuffed it with paper, stitched up with included leather strips - voila, new toy :)
This was just too large for my cage and my conure was a bit afraid of the toy so I removed it. This toy may be more suited for a larger parrot.
One of the leather ties came off in less than 5 minutes
When I ordered these I was so excited, each of our birds (a cockatiel and a conure) have a smaller version of the mat that I got from a local petstore and they LOVE them. They have this grass and timothy hay smell that is only noticable if you get your face pressed into the material. As soon as I opened the box from chewy I smelled this awful chemical smell. I was not comfortable giving these to my birds with the mats having that strong odor so I left them on my kitchen table to air out. After weeks and then months I can say the smell lessened but was still awful if you got within 5 inches of the material. So I threw them out and I would not recommend that anyone else let their birds use these.
Great price and large. Been looking for a decent price and found this. Took time for my parakeet to go by it (he's a coward), but he finally did for his favorite and only treat he eats. Hoping he will learn to crawl around and enjoy it more. I totally recommend it.
I bought two of these and sewed 3 sides together. I stuff paper and cardboard shreds inside to give him various foraging material. Also good for sticking a peanut or various nuts for him to find. Very happy with product!
I used this climbing mat on a bird stand and another bird stand that I made myself with pvc pipe. It worked really well and my birds enjoy playing with it.
Our 1.5 year old male cockatiel loves it. Our female birds have no interest.
