Is this something you can sprinkle on top of food without cooking it first? Or should it be cooked every time? Thank you in advance.

Answer by ChewyOct 29, 2021
This food is designed to be cooked.

How long can this food be stored after it’s been cooked? And do you have to prepare a full serving or can you make smaller amounts?

Answer by ChewyOct 12, 2021
A large amount can be cooked and any unused portions can be frozen. We recommend freezing unused portions in batches so that you can thaw each batch when needed. Ice-cube trays and plastic bags work well. We recommend reheating frozen food in a small pot at medium temperature. Add a tbsp of water and slowly break up the ice cube of bistro as it starts to thaw, add water one tbsp at a time as needed. Once bistro is thawed make sure it is cooled to room temperature before serving. If you would like to use a microwave – It may be a little faster. Microwave for 20 seconds at a time (time depends on the amount you put in). Then take out of the microwave oven, break down frozen food with a tablespoon and move around, and then microwave again as needed. Let food cool to room temperature before serving.

My cockatiel is 8 years old. For the first few years, I (ignorantly) had him on a seed diet. But I learned and eventually switched him over to Harrisons and seed. I tried chop time and time again and he just wouldn't have anything to do with it. My red-bellied parrot has been with me for 6 months. He's 13 is years old. The person I got him from told me that prior to her? He was on a diet of sunflower seeds and peanuts. She had been feeding him a safflower gold mix, with fruit zupreem. I switched him to Harrisons, which he LOVES. But I was told he also would not eat chop. I've offered fruits and veggies in the past woth no realy interest. Imagine my surprise when my cockatiel presented me with a clean dish (minus a bigger piece of fruit), and my parrot shoved his face in the bowl almost immediately. I'm so thrilled. I'll be ordering a couple different varieties in the future to try them out after seeing the positive response to this.

INSTANT hit with my Cockatiel!

My pretty picky eater loves her fresh and cooked veggies but having trouble getting her to eat fruit. She has been picking out just the seeds from her regular food mix. I did not have high expectations with this Apple mix however but there was Zero hesitation. She was actually getting fidgety while I was cooking it, assuming because it smells amazing like apple cinnamon oatmeal. I always hand feed her new stuff. I was blowing on each bite like you would for a toddler, I couldn’t do it fast enough! She had already eaten her normal breakfast as well. Highly recommended! I also use the bean/pea/carrot topper- she loves it!

A lot of rice

My bird isn’t crazy about eating much of anything other than fresh fruit and vegetables. And this has mostly rice in it. Way more than what I expected.

Ok, really, my husband thought it was for him. It smelled sort of like fruity oatmeal. I expected my birds to be wary at first because they are slow to adapt to new things. One of them immediately started feasting. The other took more time but eventually started eating it too. I think it’s a great enhancement to their regular food.

Our cockatiel did not like this immediately but she eventually tried it and seems to like it! I just make it in small batches and feed it to him fresh and put the next days feeding in the fridge. It seems to be very nutritious and I think anything is better than plain seed or sunflowers and such for birds so I'm happy that he is liking it. I wouldn't say it's his favorite thing but I'm glad I added it to his diet.
