Both types of diets can be a good fit. It just depends on the needs of your pet and your personal preference. Whole grains are complex carbohydrates that provide dogs with the energy they need to thrive. But if your pet has sensitivities to grains, you would want a grain-free option. Even Blue Buffalo’s diets with grains are made without corn or wheat — part of our True BLUE Promise. Instead, we use wholesome oats, barley, and brown rice. Both grains and grain-free carbohydrates are healthy and nutritious; we recommend talking with your veterinarian to decide which option is best for your pet.
While grains provide nutrition for pets, some people choose to avoid grains for various reasons. Grains are not common allergens in most dogs and cats, but if your pet is allergic to a specific grain or ingredient, you should avoid it. Blue Buffalo foods never contain corn, wheat or soy.
There are three main benefits of feeding grains:

About Blue Buffalo
The Blue Buffalo story started with a beloved Airedale named Blue, whose family wanted to feed him the best pet food possible. After searching for high-quality options, they decided to create their own food using natural ingredients, real meat first, and only the highest standards. That promise still drives them to seek out the healthiest ways to feed and nurture pets, and it lives on every time you fill your pet’s bowl with BLUE.

Echo had grown bored with the puppy chow, so, now that she is a year old, she "graduated" to the adult duck dry food, as well as some home-made fare. She really likes the new stuff. The cats no longer get a chance to eat her leftovers. There are none!
My Shih Tzu was very itchy until I switched to this food for him. He and the other Shih Tzu both like the food, and the itch is gone. Expensive, but well worth it. THANKS I just got a new puppy (larger breed) and I'm starting him on the puppy food. I trust this brand 100%
My guy has tolerance issues and we were looking for a non-chicken alternative. Although there is chicken meal, the primary protein is duck and he seems to be doing so much better! I feel that the pieces could be a little bigger, but I know not everyone has a big dog! Very happy with this food.
My dog had stomach issues and got him on this particular food and has been working for the last year and a half. I tried it myself and it’s pretty good.
My dog absolutely hated it. Would not recommend... even tried to give it to another friends dog and would not eat it.
Opened rhe bag and it has a strong odor of fish. Both of my dogs ate it and developed diarrhea the next day.
I thought I’d try it but turns out my dog won’t eat it. I’ve never owned such a picky dog. I was a little disappointed it didn’t come in a smaller weight. This is no fault of chewys or blue buffalo.
We used the old duck recipe for years. We tried other foods a few times but chicken recipes always made our Weim have very smelly gas. We did not have this problem with the old duck recipe and we were dedicated to Blue Buffalo. The new recipe gives her stinkiest farts ever. I looked at the Red Meat recipe to consider switching and it now has the dried chicken too. What’s up Blue Buffalo????? It looks like you are gonna lose a lot of business. It’s not the grain free thing either so don’t even go there. You snuck in this dried chicken that is giving our babies the stomach ache.
Always get my package in 1 days & I love it
Our three dogs usually looove this brand. Only brand we buy honestly. However, wanted to try a new flavor to “mix it up” and two of my less picky dogs normally eat so fast. With this formula, our two dogs are barely eating and have diarrhea and vomiting. It’s only been a couple days so I will update if this changes.
