My only disappointment with Kent/Blue Seal Home Fresh Extra Egg Layer 17% Protein Pellets is that there is SO much product "dust" in the bags. By the time I refill their 25lb feeder, there is an inch of dust in the trough. I'm on auto buy so I will determine after this next delivery if I will continue on or change products.

BUILDS GOOD HEALTH

This brand was recommended online for Muscovy ducks and I started with the lower 15 % Protein and then upgraded to this 17% Protein Pellet product. I am feeding

This brand was recommended online for Muscovy ducks and I started with the lower 15 % Protein and then upgraded to this 17% Protein Pellet product. I am feeding some wild ducks that had leg injuries over the winter early spring months and simply by feeding them once a day with this food their feet and leg injuries have improved over time. They have beautiful feathering and it did not make them fat. I feed them almost every day as I pass by their hang out spot along the canal while on my bike ride. I highly recommend this food for this wild ducks......and Chewy is great in providing fast shipping and freshly milled product for me. The feed has been milled between 2 and 5 weeks from when I recieve my order.

When I saw Blue Seal poultry feed, I was excited to try it for i only buy Blue Seal feed for my horses. Blue Seal is one of the top 2 feed companies in United States for feed quality. I could tell a difference in my hens in 3 days. Now almost 2 weeks. Their egg production is more consistent. Egg shells harder n colors deeper. Glad to find Blue Seal products on Chewy! Thank You

Quick delivery

This was the first time ordering from chewy. So I thought I'd try their chicken feed for laying hens. I ordered three bags. First bag was clumped and moldy at the bottom. The second bag was the same thing. I just opened the third bag yesterday which has been stored properly and my garage which is cool. All the way down the sides of the bag or solid and moldy. I am so disappointed in this product. This feed smelt like it had a perfume fragrance on top of the fact that all three bags were moldy inside. I sorted through and used what I could to see if they'd lay eggs better. My egg laying has stopped and one of my chickens have died. I do not recommend this. I'm going back to my old feed. Extremely disappointed using chewy for the first time and this was my experience. I couldn't find any contact information to contact chewy. But I thought it wait till I went through all three bags to write my review. The third bag is actually outside waiting to go into the trash it's not going into my chickens feed.

My hens ate this all up! I got the Home Fresh 25lb bag of pellets. First of all, I loved having the handle! It seems silly but it was much easier to handle then some of those other bags that are heavy and awkward. The bag also seems very durable. My hens tend to waste less with the pellets instead of the crumble. This is the extra egg layer and has all the girls need in it to help them out. It has Nutrivantage which has added calcium, vitamins, minerals, prebiotics and enzymes. I've always used feed that has the added benefits to it so I can't say thay they produced more eggs but they stayed on par! I would recommend.

The Home Fresh Extra Egg Layer pellets are a high-quality feed has everything I look for in layer pellets but also offers a couple of features I haven't often found elsewhere. It's an alfalfa-based feed, which I like; I often feed handfuls of the leafy leftover of alfalfa hay to my hens, because they love it so much. It has the protein necessary to sustain a productive flock, and it contains prebiotics so necessary to good gut health. Those special, less common features? They're the marigold extract to naturally brighten and intensify the egg yolks, making them more appealing and fresh-looking. Better yet, it has yucca schidigera. If, like myself, you have a flock that is often confined in a hen house due to weather conditions and for predator protection, you know how "aromatic" the coop can get. The yucca schidigera (which has long been proven healthful in equine feeds as well) reduces ammonia in manure and thus makes for better-smelling, healthier air quality in confined spaces. My separate flocks, including the picky peahens, all eagerly went for this feed. I found dust level to be low, and the feed to be fresh-smelling. One more good thing: It's available in 25-lb. bags for those who can't lift the heavier bags.

As always Chewy and Fed EX did a great job of quick shipping and delivery. There is a handle built into the 25# bags' tear off opening that is very handy. There were a fair number of pellets of varying colors and sizes which were clearly some sort of different feed that had gotten in there, And there was also some clumps of fibrous material that looked like some sort of paper product had found its way into the manufacturing process. This is not the first time I have had there clumps of ground up paper in this brand of feed. It was feedable and my girls had no trouble eating it, but I wonder about quality control issues.
