Tasty and durable!
I was somewhat skeptical of these at first as they were better priced than most competitors, however these are top notch split elk antlers that are claimed to be collected after natural shedding. My two 75-95 lb bouviers gnaw on them 2-5 times per day and these are still enticing to them after a month and half. They are even willing to get into gruffs about it. So yes I’d recommend this for a pup wanting a safe natural yummy chew toy.
Excellent for a mouthy puppy!
Our new puppy LOVES these antlers, and they have been a great help in keeping her from chewing furniture, shoes, and other things that puppies love to attack. They keep her interested and entertained as well providing relief for her mouth while teething. The quality of each antler has been good, and there has been plenty of marrow for her to work through.
Splintered
I had to take this away from my dog because it splintered and had sharp pieces on one end. Not sure if it was just a flaw but I couldn't risk it. I will buy a different type of antler next time, I suspect it's just something that may come from the antler being split and a whole antler will be better. Going to go buy an elk and grow my own ;-)
inconsistent sizes
I don't usually write reviews, but thought I should share this. I ordered 2 of these, one was a good nice decent size, the other was as thin as a sheet of paper, essentially usesless for a big dog, and perhaps can even easily splinter.
Good quality
Excellent quality and size for price. 1 thing I rece8learned is that if you have a super chewer, a whole would be preferable over a split antler. My shepherd had cleared out the marrow in the first couple days but still loves to chew on it. No splintering.
Do not leave your dog alone with this antler
I usually buy Buck Bone brand elk antlers but thought I’d give this brand a try. These are thin, easy to break off in sharp pieces. I have a power chewer 8 month old puppy Also, literally no difference between large and x-large antlers. I bought both sizes and paid much more for the xl size.
Antler is smooth but the bone marrow is too brittle
The antler is smooth without sharp edges and is a nice cut. Perfect size for my 25lb dog. The bone marrow, however, is too brittle and leaves a little mess. If you don’t mind a little mess, then this bone is perfect for your dog.
Good but messy
my pup loved this however the marrow that is inside the antler made a mess wherever she chewed it. My dog would give it a 5 star rating for taste however I don't recommend allowing your dog to eat it on furniture or carpeting, where it can make a mess that has to be cleaned up.
Unequal pieces
I love chewy, I have used to to buy my two husky’s food, toys, and treats for the last several years. I recently ordered and received two split elk antlers for them to enjoy as a special treat/chewy. Upon opening them up I noticed one was extremely larger then the other. I understand when dealing with antlers and cutting/splitting them all pieces won’t be exactly the same, but this was just ridiculous.
Product was very weak broke very fast never has this issue before.
Wasn’t good quality product. However I do love how fast chewy delivers products to you haven’t had any issues as far as that goes. I do highly recommend chewy just got a bad product that’s all. Wish it didn’t break so quickly.
