Smells great
By Sarah on Aug 14, 2020
We only bought this because we had a sick chicken in the house that didn't have access to grit from the yard. We bought it a few more times to have available in the yard as well. It smells really good (like licorice, from the anise). I would also have oyster shell available, I don't think this is the best source of free choice calcium, but as a grit it's pretty good! I'd recommend it if you are in a pinch for grit!

Love this!
By Riarose1020 on Sep 29, 2020
This bag is meant to be used along with a 40 lb bag of feed. Just clarifying for those who are reading reviews on the size of the bag. It smells so good! I sprinkle it on top of their feed that I ferment and mix it in. My girls are happy and healthy.

love this product!
By akn62 on Oct 4, 2020
I like the smaller bags so you aren’t dealing with heavier grit bags and the smell is great and the birds love it also. One of these little bags will do about a 50 lb bag of feed.

It is a good product. Just not great for my tiny hen.
By GPMom on Apr 2, 2020
Bought this for my tiny silkie hen. She doesn't really eat like it like I thought she would, however, she is small so maybe the grit is too big. Maybe this is intended for larger chickens. She does pick at the smaller pebbles. I might recommend this to someone with larger chickens.

Omg so small
By Chicken on Apr 11, 2020
This bag is so small! I figured it would be for more than one 40lb bag at that price point. I can spend $20 at the feed store and have enough grit and oyster shells for the whole year!

Chickens and I highly RECOMMEND this product!
By LoNeStArcHiCkEnTrAcTs on Jan 4, 2020
Yes, I too was a bit disappointed in the size of the bag like others stated. But, it is not priced to high and one bag is said to cover 40lbs of feed if mixed in. I mix a bag in with my homemade feed and recently started offering it free choice as well. Much more appealing then the regular grit I had been purchasing. The aroma of ANISE has me craving to feed it out, makes both them and me happy! I purchase 6 at a time, so that I can store up and not be out.

Good grit- fine size.
By Bullygirl on May 5, 2020
A larger bag would be useful. I have five chickens and this won't last long.

My chickies love it
By Janie on Feb 11, 2020
I was happy to find this on chewy. My chickens love it and our local feed store has stopped carrying it.

House chickens love this!
By June on Nov 27, 2019
The small bag is the perfect size for my three banty house chickens. I can keep these smaller bags in my pantry. They waste very little compared to the basic oyster shells and grit that I can get at the feed store. and their shells are strong.

small bag; hope the girls like it
By Wolfn on Jan 11, 2020 Top 1000 Contributor
Yes it is a small bag but it does say to mix with 40lb food (or so). Lets see if the girls will even care for it!
