Can you ferment this feed?

Answer by PamelaSep 04, 2023
Yes, absolutely! Of course the sunflower seeds and larger grains stay whole but my girls love this feed fermented.

Is it ok if my rosters eat this as well

Answer by ChewyNov 13, 2021
While Whole & Hearty is designed for layers, it is actually a great option to consider when you have a rooster in your flock too. Whole & Hearty has multiple sources of calcium that allow your rooster/s to self-regulate how much calcium they consume.

Would this feed be ok for 7 week old pullets that are with adult hens?

Answer by ChewyMay 10, 2023
This feed is formulated for adult poultry. Because of the high calcium content, it probably isn't the best option for any chickens younger than about 14-16 weeks of age.

Is this okay for ducks too?

Answer by ChewyDec 06, 2020
Healthy Harvest Whole & Hearty Layer Chicken Feed is suitable for adult ducks that are actively producing eggs.

Healthy Harvest 17% Protein Layer Chicken Feed

This feed appears to be all the birds favorite. The guineas, hens and roosters love it. it is clean and contains everything the chickens like.

We used this feed, which is more like scratch as the chickens loved it, but would not eat the mullet and other bits in there, wasting much of the feed and encouraging vermin. Now, we carefully portion this out once a week as a ‘treat’.

Chickens don’t eat some of it. Especially the pellets.

It looks like good feed but my chickens don’t eat at least a forth of what’s in it.

We had this food on autoship and the last three bags have had rocks in them that the chickens do not eat so when they are done eating the food there are rocks left

We had this food on autoship and the last three bags have had rocks in them that the chickens do not eat so when they are done eating the food there are rocks left. It doesn't have any information on the bag indicating that they are putting rocks in the food.

I have this on auto delivery since my flock LOVES this stuff! However the last 3 bags I've gotten have have been very powdery rather the the full large grains I'm used to seeing. Now I do get this delivered every 2 weeks and it's possible I've gotten bags from the bottom of the silo? which would explain why it's been so broken up & powdery? We'll see, I'm getting another delivery tomorrow or next day & if it is the same way I am going to have to find an alternative because it's just way too expensice to be paying for powdery grain~ may as well just buy pellets at that point & make a ferment

My hens were not laying, when we added this they began to lay again.

They don’t like the pellets in it. They don’t eat them.
