I was really scared to buy this because of all the negative reviews, but I’m glad I did! This is not hard at all to break down. You just got to give your flock a chance to get at it. I crumbled some of the corners just a smidge to help them out, and the chicken and geese the rest! They actually love this a lot more than the food I used to feed them, as well as my geese are far less aggressive because they have the block to focus on.
I'm only giving 1-star because it won't allow zero star. My chickens in the past have eaten chicken blocks but this one was given to them while I was on vacation, and they nearly starved themselves. I took it to my son's chickens, turkeys and ducks - even they wouldn't eat it and they eat everything. Unfortunately, I purchased 2 and now I have a big hunk of "food", what a waste of money.
my chickens love it. but..... they think its too hard/ i have to get a screwdriver to loosen everything up, or they wont eat it. i have 7 hens.
Thought I would try this bird block for Turkeys. Turns out they love it. I hang it from a tree limb in a hay net so the Deer can't chew it down. The Turkeys follow the block round and round as it spins freely keeping them interested for hours on end.
In the beginning the chicken were not interested at all barley pecked at at. Almost a month went by and and I figured maybe it is a fail. So I took it outside for the chicken as a snack while free ranging. Eventually it rained on it a bit so it got softer. The chicken got all Kind of crazy about it then. Once it got soft form some water my chicken decimated it.
Chickens won't eat it that much. We have alot of different breeds and none care for it. This I think would be good for putting under deer feeder or for hogs. No good for chickens tho.
Our flock of hens tore into this block. They love it and having access to it whenever they want. It's placed in the open area under the coop so its out of the weather and available whenever they are out and about. They seem to thrive on it.
It has been hanging in my chicken run for weeks and hasn't been touched by any of my chickens. Sad to see thar much money go to waste. Hopefully someone else's birds arent as snooty as mine
My chickens love this block. The first time it was introduced was a little dicey. But after the initial release, it’s a MUST.
This is so hard the birds can not eat it. I took an axe to it & still no good...
