Feed to large hookbills as both a daily diet and treat. It's important to establish a consistent feeding and cleaning schedule for your pet. Keep food cups filled at all times and always supply fresh, clean drinking water. For optimal freshness store in a cool, dry area before and after opening. Refrigerate for extended storage.
We recommend a 3 week food transition period be practiced for optimum results.
- Week 1: Mix 1/4 of food to 3/4 of current food.
- Week 2: Mix 1/2 of food to 1/2 of current food.
- Week 3: Mix 3/4 of food with 1/4 of current food.
- Week 4: Transition is complete and can now be used as main diet.

Terrible! not fresh bad smell
By CHERYL on Nov 3, 2020
My birds will not eat this food and I wondered why? Then I smelled it and it has a terrible smell like chemicals. I wonder if Chewy will stand by their products an either switch this for another fresher bag of the same type or switch it out for a different product???? I bought 2 10 LB bags enough to get my two parrots through the winter here in Oregon .. But now if They will not do something ... I'M OUT ALL MY MONEY I want to continue to shop at chewy and recommend them to friends and family... well see what they do after reading this review? Cheryl in Oregon

Did not work for me
By PamV on Aug 23, 2020
Bought this to switch from the small parrot/hookbill size of the same food. I am feeding a Severe Macaw and believe a majority of this food was too large for her. She does not eat hazelnuts, the large pieces of raisins and dried fruit wound up floating in the water bowl and she doesn’t eat the dried pasta or large chunky colored pellets. This food was the first to hit the floor. The food itself is probably fine for larger beaks. I thought my bird would enjoy picking thru it and be able to find something she liked. Will stick to the smaller size for medium birds.

Large hookbill food FAIL
By Jennifer on Sep 13, 2018
I wanted to offer a variety to my Macaw so I swapped to this instead of her regular Macaw Big Bites. The top of the Lrg Hookbill bag had a variety of good nuts but the bottom 5/6 was nothing but tiny seeds. Total waste of my money.
