Gradually transition your pet to any new food over the course of 7-14 days to help avoid the digestive upset that abrupt changes in diet can cause. If your pet tends to be on the sensitive side, it may be best to take a little extra time. 1. Start by feeding your pet a mix of 25% new food and 75% old food for the first few days. 2. Then, increase the amount of new food to about 50% and feed that half-and-half mix for a few days. 3. Proceed to feeding 75% new food/25% old food for the next few days. 4. Complete the transition by feeding just the new food on its own.
The cats loved this food, but the cans are crazy. From the lip around the top that the food gets caught under, to the grooves everywhere, there is just no good way to get everything out of this can without working unreasonably hard at it. If they changed the cans, I'd buy this in a heartbeat.
I needed a novel protein without chicken, beef or turkey as the main ingredient with a little lamb added (that's what some of the other brands do). This is all lamb. My cat likes it a lot! I add a little water to it when putting it on the plate so loosen it up, lamb is pretty dense, and she's able to lick it up easier. I bought the small cans rather than the big ones.
My girls enjoyed the food and I am thankful for the large cans. So few good quality cat brands produce large cans for multi-cat households like this.
I’m not sure what the others here are talking about, but this food is amazing. My sister went to Canada and bought some for my cats. The ingredients are great, no bad fillers like gums etc…and most of all my cats love it. KEEP IN MIND, my cats have never been fed cheap food. They eat brands like Instinct, Ziwi Peak, Acana, and Orijen, as well as freeze-dried and air-dried food. Coming from these, the cats absolutely loved CanadaFresh! I think partly because it’s way more moist than the normal brands my cats eat.
I had been feeding Instinct LID Rabbit, but unavailability made me search out another product with limited ingredients. It's just lamb and peas. Received it quickly just as I used up my last can of rabbit. Thanks Chewy for the quick delivery. I immediately gave the cats a bowl to see if they like it and they gobbled it up faster than I've ever seen them eat. I was worried about not being able to transition them to the new food. But absolutely no digestion issues. Thank goodness as they previously had IBD which is why they were on rabbit. Anyway, a week later and all is still good. They still love it and are having no problems. Though, I am surprised that the food is so light in color. I thought lamb meat would be darker since it is red meat.
I think if it was more juicy, it would be a hit, but it is just a bit too pasty and the cats did not eat it.
My friend gave this to me after her seven cats turned this down. I have four cats, who will eat anything - except this. Looks gross to me, too. I tried several times, but it is still rejected.
I have six cats and I was looking for a better quality wet food since 4 of them recently developed food allergies to friskies. I missed the fact that it does contain salmon oil and that is one ingredient I was trying to avoid. Also the food is really thick compared to the various other brands I have been trying to discover their favorite. Just not for my cats.
Unlike the salmon, which was a unanimous hit, two of my four cats aren't really sold on the lamb. My non-picky eaters chow down on this with zero complaints; meanwhile the other two take a couple of small bites and walk away. Compared to the salmon, it seems a bit low on moisture as well, so I wonder if this flavor would benefit from reformulation.
My kitty clan typically love lamb based meals especially one which is a combo of chicken liver and lamb. Canada Fresh sounded appetizing to me and I thought they would love it but non of them are interested. Its very pale and soft. Will not buy again.
