Can this be used for birds?

Carefresh is developed and manufactured specifically for certain small animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, rats, mice, chinchillas, hedgehogs, and ferrets). We recommend checking with your local vet first before using it for other species. As with any changes to your pet's care, if you do use it be sure to observe your pet closely for changes in behavior. Potential risk of impaction exists if your pet ingests a significant amount of any type of bedding. If you suspect impaction, discontinue use immediately and seek veterinary care.

This is the first time using the blue carefresh, in the 10L. It smelled a little odd when I opened the bag. There was a "hardened" chunk that had an old, wet newspaper

This is the first time using the blue carefresh, in the 10L. It smelled a little odd when I opened the bag. There was a "hardened" chunk that had an old, wet newspaper smell, which makes sense being what it is. It wasn't the whole bag, so my guess is that it somehow got wet. I used what I could, and it fluffed up nicely. Vibrant colour
