Carprieve (Carprofen) is the generic version of Rimadyl. These chewable tablets are formulated to help provide pups with relief from pain and inflammation related to osteoarthritis. They may also be given to your dog to help control postoperative pain associated with the soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries. These chewable tablets are available in 25 mg, 75 mg and 100 mg strengths.

Carprofen is indicated for the relief of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis and for the control of postoperative pain associated with soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries in dogs.

Possible Side Effects

Typical undesirable effects associated with NSAIDs such as vomiting, soft faeces/diarrhoea, faecal occult blood, loss of appetite and lethargy have been reported. These adverse reactions occur generally within the first treatment week and are in most cases transient and disappear following termination of the treatment but in very rare cases may be serious or fatal.

As with other NSAIDs there is a risk of rare renal or idiosyncratic hepatic adverse events.

Drug & Food Interactions

Do not administer other NSAIDs and glucocorticoids concurrently or within 24 hours of each other. Some NSAIDs may be highly bound to plasma proteins and compete with other highly bound drugs, which can lead to toxic effects.

Concurrent administration of potential nephrotoxic drugs should be avoided.

Do not use in cats. Do not use in pregnant or lactating bitches. Do not use in puppies less than 4 months of age. Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipents. Do not use in dogs suffering from cardiac, hepatic or renal disease, where there is a possibility of gastrointestinal ulceration or bleeding, or where there is evidence of a blood dyscrasia.

What is Carprieve?

Carprieve is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that is used to reduce pain and inflammation due to osteoarthritis and pain following surgery in dogs. It is given to dogs by mouth.

Osteoarthritis is a painful condition caused by "wear and tear" of cartilage and other parts of the joints that may result in the following changes or sings in your dog: limping or lameness, decreased activity or exercise, stiffness or decreased movement of joints. Yo control surgical pain (e.g. for surgeries such as sprays, ear procedures, or orthopedic repairs) your veterinarian may administer Carprieve before the procedure and recommend that your dog be treated for several days after going home.

If you have to cut these in quarters like we do, these do not crumble. We have had others that end up in multiple pieces by the time you are finished. Fast shipping by Chewy too.
