This harness does not include a tether. It is specifically designed to attach to car seat belt systems without the need for extra connection straps.

This harness does allow your pup to lie down when attached to your vehicle's seat belt system. It is not designed nor crash-tested to be used with a tether.

I bought this for my lab mix. He's 80 + lbs at 4 years old and I want him safe in my new car! It fits him like a glove (size large). Ultra padded and the buckles are so secure! Metal clips where the leash/seat belt attaches. The ONLY disappointment is that there is not a size up from this for my Great Dane. I'm still searching for a similarly built harness for her.

Not adjustable

The neck loop on this harness is not adjustable so my medium sized dog was able to slip out of the harness entirely while in the backseat of the car. Feels odd that

The neck loop on this harness is not adjustable so my medium sized dog was able to slip out of the harness entirely while in the backseat of the car. Feels odd that it is not adjustable as dogs come in many different shapes and sizes. Would be a great harness if the neck part was adjustable as it seems sturdy! The buckles are a bit hard to undo and take a bit to get used to.

Easy on!

I had a step-in harness before, and it was a chore getting it on because my dog gets overly excited when he knows we are going somewhere. He would sit nicely until

I had a step-in harness before, and it was a chore getting it on because my dog gets overly excited when he knows we are going somewhere. He would sit nicely until I got one paw through, then he'd start dancing around before I could get the other paw in and the first paw would come back out again. If I finally managed to get both paws in, he would start dancing and jumping again so I wouldn't be able to buckle it. Getting it on him to go anywhere often frustrated me to tears. This harness is so fast and easy to put on! He sits nicely while I slip it over his head and buckle it on. Done! In seconds! I also love that I can put the car seatbelt right through the loop on the top of the harness. No need for the extra seat belt tether. This seems safer and keeps him more securely in place. It also doesn't twist to the side like using the tether with the step-in harness did. My dog is a five-year-old Great Pyrenes mix and weighs about 70 lbs. The large fits him perfectly. I recommend measuring your dog to get the correct size. I saw some questions on whether the dog can lay down. My dog prefers to sit in the front seat and is too big to lay down there, but if he were in the back seat, I'm sure he would be able to lay down if he wanted to. I highly recommend this harness. It has save me many tears!

I think the product could be very good, however my chocolate lab bit through the seat belt that had buckled her in when I left her alone in the car for an about 5 minutes. Total user error, so learn from me and keep any eye on your dog when introducing new things!

How heavy it was

EXTREMELY hard to unclasp, also WAY TOO heavy for my dog. NOT sure what to do with it; however, I'll NEVER put it on her again!!

Nice looking and Fits well but..

I hope I never have to find out how well this car harness will perform in an impact. I would feel more confident if the latches locked. The harness is otherwise

I hope I never have to find out how well this car harness will perform in an impact. I would feel more confident if the latches locked. The harness is otherwise nice. I bought two and they are easy to get on over my schipperke's heads. The dogs appear to be comfortable in them. The harnesses are easy enough to secure with the seatbelt and my dogs can lay down and get comfortable. I'll have to help one of them get used to it. He tried to turn around and got a bit stuck.

I did a ton of research on crash testing protocols and which harnesses are approved by national groups. While this one isn't certified, the construction is very thoughtful - the webbing is wide and well-sewn to the chest plate and back panel. I like the seat belt loop on the back (as opposed to a static lead that clips into the seat belt buckle) because it uses the car's built-in safety features rather than trying to be a one-size-fits-all approach. Our dog is 70 lbs and likes to sniff out the windows - while her movement is limited by the harness, she can comfortably rest her chin on the window sill and sniff to her heart's content. Bonus: the harness keeps her from jumping out an open window! We did our own brake test with it on and were pleased with how well the harness protects her body and lets the car seat belt do its built-in braking action. While there aren't a ton of perfect options out there, I think this harness is worth it, especially at this price.
