Does this run on batteries or plug into the wall?

How long can you use a filter in a cool room? Every week or 2 for changing filters sounds expensive. Also, I see the replacement filters have a low rating. Any problems with the filters?

I discovered the filter and sponge were full of mold after 3 weeks. I could not find replacement filters and they would not wash clean, so I went without and change water one a week. I would not buy again!

Does this motor have an auto shut off if the water gets to low?

Apparently not. I have used my unit for less than 3 months. It ran low on water and appeared to shut off. But I can't get it to restart. Burn!

How easily could your cat knock this over? Is there a lot of water on top to play in?

Not a lot of water on top; they can splash a little, but not a lot. Very difficult to knock over when full, but a more determined/strong kitty could probably manage it when less full.

I bought this as a replacement for my cats' aging water fountain, and I'm already in love with it! It really is super quiet - so quiet, in fact, that if I hadn't plugged it in myself and watched the water start flowing, I never would have known it was even on. I really appreciate the transparent bowl so you can easily tell when it needs to be refilled, and I love that the fountain collects in an actual pan instead of relying on just the fountain to drink from. It's easy to assemble, and to disassemble for cleaning, too. Note that because the pan is stainless steel, it's shiny and reflective, so it may take some pets time to get used to, but all in all, it's a great fountain.

Overall I like the water fountain. It is just for 2 cats, so it is plenty large. It is almost like a having a small garden water feature. The night light makes it very cute. What I am disappointed in is that it is NOT STAINLESS STEEL! I wanted SS for the protection from bacteria. The entire bottom section where the water is held is PLASTIC. We kept it because - return=hassle in my case. In the picture it appears the bottom portion is SS but it is in fact grey plastic. The only SS piece is the cover. Buyer Be Ware.

This is technically my 2nd experience with this type of water bowl and so far it has been good. It’s super quiet, has a nice nightlight and easy to maintain. We have two small pups in the house and this bowl is a perfect size for them. I also bought a 2nd bowl as a Christmas present for two other small pets and they seem to like it just as much. I don’t think it really gets any easier than this.

My dog is obsessed with drinking out of freshly flushed toilets...I don't know why, maybe because it's aerated water? Since buying this water fountain my pup has definitely been drinking more and in larger quantities... It's pretty easy to put together, looks modern, and is easy to clean and most importantly doesn't make any sound even though there's a slight bubbling/trickle of water. I wish I had come across this sooner.. my dog loves it. One very happy fur mom!

I personally was disappointed with the description of the product, it mentions this is stainless steel, however on the top layer is stainless, he majority of the fountain (bowl) is plastic. I don’t know if this is a BPA free plastic.

Silent and easy to clean

This is the best fountain yet. We've had couple of Pixi ones over the years but I like this one more since my cats don't go for the arched stream of water. This

This is the best fountain yet. We've had couple of Pixi ones over the years but I like this one more since my cats don't go for the arched stream of water. This one bubbles from the middle and without splashing or being audible. 2 out of 3 cats will drink from it so far. Our girl likes the Pixi but hasn't wanted to drink from this one yet, so we have a bowl of water next to it. The 2 boys like it fine. I think the reflective stainless threw them all off at first. The light inside is just soft enough to show the water level without being crazy bright at night. Filters are a little costly compared to the previous, but using Brita filtered water will make them last longer.

Our incredibly inept cat uses it properly

We have a cat named Frankie. He is not very good at drinking water. We tried a bowl, but he'd scoot it all around the kitchen subsequently splashing it everywhere

We have a cat named Frankie. He is not very good at drinking water. We tried a bowl, but he'd scoot it all around the kitchen subsequently splashing it everywhere. Thinking he might have depth perception problems, we tried a fountain with a spigot. Well, Frankie couldn't figure it out. He would regularly put his whole head under the spigot, thus getting soaked. So, we tried this one. Low and behold, he is drinking like an, almost, normal cat!
