With one cat, we recommend you replace the filter monthly. For two or more cats, you may need to replace the filter more regularly if it becomes blocked. A BLOCKED FILTER WILL CAUSE POOR OPERATION AND PREMATURE PUMP FAILURE.
To prevent limescale build up, carefully disassemble the fountain and place impeller in a small cup containing warm water and vinegar in equal proportions. Also fill impeller tunnel with vinegar mixture. After 2-3 hours rub off limescale deposits on impeller and tunnel using a small brush. Rinse well and reassemble.
Pump does not pump water or 'gurgles.'
When switching on for the first time or after cleaning etc., wait a few minutes for pump to dispel trapped air. Ensure water level is filled to 'MAX' mark and that the filter cartridge is not due for renewal. Pump requires maintenance.
Pet will not drink from fountain.
Most pets will be instantly attracted by the running water but sometimes need time to adapt to using their new water source. It may help to try switching off the pump initially. Some pets are put off by contaminants in water which should normally be eliminated by the filter over the first day or so. Always take care to ensure that your pet does not become dehydrated.
Excessive water loss by evaporation. Set pump to minimum flow.

This little fountain has been a game changer. Despite bowls of fresh water, my cats preferred to have me turn on faucets or drink out of the tub after a shower, etc. Decided to give this a try - they love it. While my one still likes to play in the water, it makes life much easier for all of us. The pump is quiet and the cats love that there are multiple levels to choose from. Have not had an issue with mold in the filter but have only had a few weeks...will keep an eye out for that.
I’ve had this plugged in and running for less than two weeks and there’s two problems. The fountain started making a loud suction noise so I opened it up to clean anything that might have clogged it up. When I opened it up I discovered the filter had grown mold. So needless to say I will not continue using this product.
I've tried a bunch of different types of cat water fountains and most of them work pretty well, but this is the first fountain I've found that is so simple to put together and most importantly RE-ASSEMBLE after putting in a new filter. I've thrown out my last 2 fountains, one because the replacement filters that were bought with it and had the right re-order number on them did not fit and the other because it had a carbon filter that leaked into the water every time I replaced it. This fountain has a very easy to use slot for the filter and doesn't have a bunch of hidden parts underneath the shell to try to fit together. The only minus to it is that is isn't very big and the fastest setting on the water flow looks like it should be the slow setting (not very much movement in the basin to catch the cat's attention.
Toula and Voula love their new fountain. Not sure why it took me so long to get one. Before this I would have water on my floor every morning. Now no more spills - it is wonderful. They love drinking from the running water and no longer ask me to turn on faucets for drinking.
I purchased this unit in 2020 and 2022. I have the unit plugged in during the day and evening and unplugged at night. The first and second unit power outlet became very hot and when I noticed and unplugged it the unit broke into pieces. This is the second unit to do this. I am open for suggestions. Why does it overheat?
I have purchased it with these water fountains. Both of them just stopped working with no warning. You clean them like you’re supposed to keep the water full. You clean it plug it back together. I’m going with another brand.
I bought this water fountain for a low price, I figured if the cats didn't like it, it wouldn't be too much money lost. The cats did like it, but it was a terrible machine. It worked for a month and one week. I cleaned it once a week, always kept it over the low line, and performed monthly maintenance. However, after the final cleaning, the thing stopped working and never did again no matter what I did. I cleaned it again, checked on the motor. All was well, the motor even made sound, but it never pumped water. I wrote to Chewy and they sent a replacement, which was very nice of the. However, the water fountain did the same exact thing and stopped working. I don't know what is up with it, but it's destined no to last long. I decided not to bother Chewy support and just leave a review because nothing could make me want to try another or waste more money on it and its filters.
I bought my little girl this fountain in 2014. Yes, the fountain and pump are still working. Although it’s time to get a replacement pump as the original is still working but the wires don’t fit as tight as they used to in the back of the pump and it takes a couple of taps to restart it. Now, the reason it has lasted so long is because I clean it frequently including taking apart the pump. I NEVER use tap water, not for my kitty or myself. Sometimes I use a mix of bottle and distilled. I have brutally hard water. I change the filters monthly and always rinse them when I clean it. I simply wash the fountain weekly with Dawn dish soap, never the pump. The pump I use a tooth brush and very hot water. I also was surprised to read about some dangerous electrical issues. Never a good idea to use extension cords or power strips especially with something that runs 24/7. I always ask my dad who is an electrical engineer and my friend who is an electrician and Fire Chief before I do anything with cords and electricity, they both said no. I would recommend this fountain especially because I didn’t expect it to go for more than a year. My hope is the replacement pump will work and I will keep the original just in case. I can’t say enough good things about Chewys. If and when there has been a problem with anything they are always courteous and take care of it. I will purchase the pump for the fountain from them as I know if it should be faulty they will take care of it. It’s a good fountain if you do the maintenance on it. To me it’s important to keep that water fresh and clean so there is no bacterial risk to my baby. I would buy it again, the only thing that would improve it would be make it out of stainless steel instead of plastic. It would be easier to clean especially for folks with multi pet households and when it quits it won’t end up in a landfill.
My cat honestly loves the flow options of this water fountain and drinks from it often. But after 2 years of dealing with this headache of a foundation I’m going to be donating it to a shelter. First off, you’ll need to be constantly buying new filters because of the heavy mold overgrowth. Despite cleaning this almost daily, the foundation is constantly covered with pink goo and slime which cannot be healthy for my cat. Cleaning this thing is near impossible because of the nooks and crannies and I’m constantly having to replace the filter because of how dirty it gets. I feel like I’m constantly worrying about the safety of my cats drinking water and I’m over it. I so regret buying this and I wish I would’ve returned it two years ago and gotten my money back when I could. Switching to stainless steel was the best thing I could’ve done. For the healthy of your cats and your own sanity, I strongly urge you to not buy this fountain unless you want to be constantly attempting to clean the mold off of it. I wish I would’ve known the pros of buying ceramic or stainless steel instead. Now I’m stuck with a pack of unusable filters for this thing. 0/10 stars for me.
We discovered when our water fountain quit that it was the pump. My husband opened the pump and cleaned it all out and it worked again. So don't forget to clean it out (we use filtered water) every once in a while. Otherwise this fountain is a good addition to my cat's water supply.
