I've owned many Martingale collars in the past. I normally replace them when the nylon starts to wear down. I bought this in June of this year. Hunter is very playful Labrador and gets overly excited when he sees other dogs. He broke this in a single lunge while tied to a fence. Had it broke while crossing a busy intersection or street, it would have been VERY bad! Luckily, I have a few heavy duty key rings at home which was a quick fix until I can get another.
The second time my 75lb pit mix wore it he pulled the rings open and broke it. The rings are not welded together so it's a bad design I'm attaching photos
I wanted to like this collar, but if my 8 month old, 35lb dog was strong enough to BEND the metal and escape, this is not a product I can recommend.
Collar was good fit for the dog and was a a great price. Also got ligbt colors and black sharpie and wrote dogs' name and my # on it as well
I wanted to like this collar but unfortunately I did not. Along the seams, it has a rough/sharp connection that rubs on my dogs skin and gives her a bad rash. The collar could be made without this type of seam if it was just tucked under. The collar does close and tighten like a regular martingale collar so it is functional but my dog has very thin hair along her neck so it doesn't work for us.
I ordered 2 different colors (size med, orange and blue), arrived quickly. Should have listened to the other reviews- both broke within 2 weeks. Our dog (short and stocky, 50 lb) ran from another dog that got into our yard while out on his lead, popped a link out. Second broke, him in the yard just running around on the lead playing.
My 50 lb bluenose pittie looked cute in her new purple collar but one of the links stretched open after about a month.
Had the collar less than a week. My 45 lb dog likes to act big and tuff to protect her yard and lunged to the end of her lead when another dog came by. One of the Martingale loop links broke and she was suddenly able to charge after the dog. Luckily, my dog is all bluster, because she didn't know what to do when she was free to approach the other dog, so I was able to go catch her.
This works as advertised but tangled in very long fur for a slow release.
May work with some dogs, definitely didn't work for mine. I have a golden retriever, he pulls so bad. I was hoping this would help, but he didn't care one bit. He pulled so hard that one of the black pieces broke and his collar slipped off. Didn't even last a week. 🤦♀️
