How it Works

The Comfort Zone calming mist dispensed by the diffuser contains pheromones that mimic a cat’s natural feline facial pheromones (FFP). These are the same pheromones your cat would leave behind when head bunting you or rubbing her face on the furniture, and they signal to cats that a place or object is safe and familiar. So, using the diffuser is like one big kitty face rub spread across the entire room!

How to Use

Always use the diffuser properly and with the vents facing up. Leave four feet of space around the diffuser and avoid plugging it under shelves, behind furniture or near vents and windows for best results. Replace the refill approximately every 30 days or earlier if you notice it is empty.

What's the difference between the new and old multi-cat formulas? The percentage of pheromones is the same in both and that's what is supposed to create the calming effect.

what happens if you put in upside down for a week. should keep using or toss

The diffuser plug may still be used. The refill itself may require replacing if the pheromones have leaked out.

It is recommended to use the new model of diffuser. The new diffuser technology includes the following- Visible Vapor: At times your Comfort Zone® Diffuser may emit a vapor from the top of the diffuser. This is a normal occurrence and reinforces that the diffuser technology is working. Detectable Odor: Although the diffuser is unscented, in rare instances you may sense a slight odor from the diffusing pheromones. This too is normal and poses no harm to the family, the pets or the home. Heat: The diffuser may feel warm to the touch, which is normal and safe. The manufacturer has also added a new auto-shut-off feature to the new diffuser for an added layer of protection and security.

Kind of smelly, no way to tell if it works

I bought new diffusers because my old ones suddenly started emitting a plasticky smell, not pleasant. I've been using Comfort Zone for several years, never had an issue before. I missed the note in the original packaging that recommended replacing the diffusers after one year -- mine were old. But only 2 of my 3 had the plastic smell problem. I replaced the 2, both initially smelled bad. The plastic smell has receded, but it took a couple of weeks. And as is true for both Comfort Zone and another brand I tried previously, there's no easy way to tell if they really work. My cat Klatu doesn't speak English, and how would I test it? Stop using it for a month and see if his behavior changes? Might have to try that at some point, but for now I'll keep using this stuff.

Purchased this to help introduce a second cat to my resident cat who had been very lonely since she was adopted. They went from hostile/indifferent to snuggling

Purchased this to help introduce a second cat to my resident cat who had been very lonely since she was adopted. They went from hostile/indifferent to snuggling and cleaning each other within a week of plugging in. Of course could have been a placebo and a simple matter of time getting comfortable around each other -- but I'm happy with the product regardless.
