Logs arrived damaged

The product (8 bird food logs - total of 8 lbs) come a in wrapped package, but the package was shipped by Chewy in a larger box (about 1.5" larger in each dimension)

The product (8 bird food logs - total of 8 lbs) come a in wrapped package, but the package was shipped by Chewy in a larger box (about 1.5" larger in each dimension) without packing material in between. Thus the inner package was free to move during shipping, which caused damage to the logs, which are somewhat fragile. This was the second order in which this happened. Chewy should add packing material to constrain the movement of the inner package.

Birds hate these

The birds were not interested at all in these log's. The only bird I saw even peck at this log was a baby woodpecker. The logs I usually get from the bird store

The birds were not interested at all in these log's. The only bird I saw even peck at this log was a baby woodpecker. The logs I usually get from the bird store are half gone by the end of the day but I have had one of these logs from Chewy out for the last week and their are barley a few pecked holes in the log. The birds do not like these at all!

A nice treat for your birds visitors.

Out of the package this had a hot pepper scent but not overpowering. It was very easy to hang and came with everything needed to do so, despite the lack of instructions

Out of the package this had a hot pepper scent but not overpowering. It was very easy to hang and came with everything needed to do so, despite the lack of instructions. I hung up one in a tree and nearly a week later, it hasn’t been touched. We also had several downpours during that time and it held up well. I wanted to give it another chance so I put one where we feed the crows who protect our chicken yard. The first day, they didn’t touch it. The next day, I put some peanuts on it. Peanuts are what I feed them daily. I later saw a crow who stopped for a few bites of the hot pepper delight. The next day, it was gone. While this didn’t attract birds to the yard, the birds who we do feed, devoured it after they figured out what it was. If you want to try this product, I would suggest you use it on the birds you currently feed, rather than trying to attract new birds to the yard.

I think the idea of this suet treat is great, but it has some flaws that need working on. It technically is a ‘no melt’ suet, but that’s referring to heat exposure

I think the idea of this suet treat is great, but it has some flaws that need working on. It technically is a ‘no melt’ suet, but that’s referring to heat exposure. When I installed the suet, we had a few days of rain. The block swelled with water and broke clean off into four split pieces. Prior to it breaking, we did have a couple of birds pick at it. Since I replaced it with a new one, no birds have been at it. I do think the concept is good but maybe there needs to be a basket or something on the bottom to hold it together a bit better!

Easy to use, no mess Suet Logs!

I love the C&S ready to use Suet log! And more importantly, the birds do too! I am using the Hot Pepper flavor, which is a great deterrent for all the squirrels

I love the C&S ready to use Suet log! And more importantly, the birds do too! I am using the Hot Pepper flavor, which is a great deterrent for all the squirrels we have around all our feeders. The suet log is easy to set up for use and not messy at all-no mess of greasy suet on the hands! You just remove it from the plastic packaging, uncoil the little wire that comes with it, put it thru the hole of the black support hanger, twist it together and hang- very easy and fast to set up. We used an S-hook to hang the suet from our bird feeder. Birds have been landing on the log and pecking away at it. So far we’ve seen Bluejays and small Woodpeckers, and expect to see more! The logs are very solid, at one pound weight each. It is keeping its shape, not melting or falling apart. This is probably due to the No Melt Suet Dough feature. This product is also made in the USA. It’s fun to watch the birds enjoy this quality product!

I have a lot of squirrels in my yard and am always looking for ways to keep them away from the feeders. I was drawn to this suet holder because it seemed simple—you just hang the suet without dealing with a cage. That part really appealed to me. First disappointment: the tiny wire meant to hang the suet. It’s is very thin and hard to install properly. There’s also nothing built in for birds to perch on. After a few hours, a wren came by and used it, but other birds didn’t seem interested. The next morning, a grackle stopped by and ate a little. It seems only birds that can cling directly to the suet are able to use it. A squirrel also tried it. He ate some, but when he came back later and sniffed it, he left without eating—so yes, the chili pepper in the suet does help deter them. However, after doing some research, I learned that if squirrels rub their eyes after eating spicy suet, it can hurt them. I didn’t want to take that risk, so I removed it. Back to the drawing board—still trying to find a squirrel-proof solution that’s safe for squirrels.

Discovered a bird I have never seen before!

I admit I was skeptical at first that birds would like hot peppers but they DO! It arrived well sealed for freshness and I couldn't even smell the scent through

I admit I was skeptical at first that birds would like hot peppers but they DO! It arrived well sealed for freshness and I couldn't even smell the scent through the wrapping which once unwrapped is amazing! I easily hung it with the included wire in a tree on my fence line where I always spot a ton of wildlife. After a few days of it hanging around I started noticing the prettiest little birds flying in and out of the tree. I did some research and they are Cedar Waxwing birds. I also think i spotted a woodpecker eating at it. Overall my experience with this food log I am very happy and will buy in the future. Side note, the squirrels don't seem to eat which a great!

I put it on the concrete wall in front on my home. The first one i used had the hanger broke so i laid it on its side it was half gone then some unknown animal drug

The second one i still laid on its side, i do not have anywhere to hang them but the black birds, not big black birds the smaller ones were all chatty going crazy over it so i can say the little black birds love them! They ate all of the second one! I have not put anymore out yet.

I waited to write a review until I have it hanging for a few days. First of all, it’s a good size suet roll for your money. Secondly, no squirrel! And lastly, the bigger birds like it. I have this hanging just above one of my open bird feeder so the bigger birds have a place to stand while they feed on this. I have tons of squirrels raiding all my bird feeders all day long but none touches this, guess the hot pepper really deters them. I will be buying more as this lasted quite awhile so you get your money worth.
