what is the sodium content?
Answer by ChewyFeb 24, 2019
This food has a Sodium content of 0.09% on an as fed basis.

What is the salt/sodium content of Daves restricted sodium chicken? As mg per kg. If you want to give it as a % of as fed, as in the other question, I needed to know the kcal/kg as feed also.
Answer by ChewyApr 26, 2019
This recipe has a sodium content of 60.18 milligrams per 100 kilocalories (mg/100 kcal) and calorie content of 1,356 kilocalories per kilogram (kcal/kg).

Assuming this blend has grains since it doesn't specify grain free as other Dave's products specify? I don't see grains listed in the ingredients though....
Answer by ChewyJun 01, 2021
This recipe is grain-free. For a complete list of ingredients and the guaranteed analysis, click the “Nutritional Info” tab on the product page.

Can you tell me the percentage of phosphorous (by as fed basis)? Thank you.
Answer by ChewyMay 23, 2019
This dog food has a phosphorus content of 0.49% on an as-fed basis and 1.94% on a dry-matter basis.

Great food for dogs with cardiac issues

We recently found out that two of our senior dogs have cardiac issues. Our vet recommended we move them to low sodium diets. We have a great dry food but wanted something canned as well. I remember a good friend once telling me that she loved Dave's dog food. I decided to try it. My dogs love it! I won't know how much it helps until their next echos but for now, it's our canned food of choice for our sweethearts.

Pricey but worth it for CHF pooches

My dog was diagnosed with late stage congestive heart failure eight months ago, and keeping him on a low-salt diet is crucial in helping to keep his abdominal swelling down.

Found pieces of plastic in this food! Warning! Do not buy!

I found pieces of plastic in 2 different cans of Dave's restricted diet sodium chicken dog food. The pieces of plastic were flat, they looked like small pieces of plastic bags. Throw this food away if you have it! This food should be pulled off the shelves and recalled!

Great menu for reduce sodium

I have two canines with congestive heart failure. It is imperative they have low sodium meals. This brand has been the only one I have found that is specifically low sodium and palatable to my dogs. I also mix it with Wyson Epigen and Tripett canned menus to encourage inrest for picky eaters. My only complaint would be to make other varieties like rabbit and turkey.

He will not eat Hills H/D but will eat this.

So far, so good. My little guy has early CHF and he is a little piggy that will eat anything normally but since we started the meds for heart failure, he is picky. I put him on Hills H/D that is specifically for CHF but he refuses it - both dry and canned. I mix 1/2 Daves low sodium canned with 1/2 Hills H/D canned and he will eat it. The reason I want him to eat Hills HD is I because I have read that it supplies the vitamin’s and minerals on a quantity and balance appropriate for a dog on the 3 heart meds he is on. One of which is a diuretic which undoubtedly causes loss of nutrients. If Royal Canin had a canned heart health food I would try it but they don’t. Hope all of you with pups with heart issues get much time with your fur kid. Give the meds on time and be patient with the accidents. Your pup can’t help it. Thanks Dave’s for filling a nitch a good low sodium food- there are not many out there!

Guar gum - bean!

My dog was diagnosed with DCM and CHF. Thinking this didn’t have beans in it, it does. Be careful. Little did I know, guar gum is a bean.

Dogs didn’t like the flavor

Wanted to try this for my dog that has heart issues because of the lower sodium. But neither one of my dogs would eat this canned food.

She LOVES it!!

I have a 12 yr. old female with congestive heart failure. After noticing her bloating becoming worse, I decided to try a low sodium food. Being a very picky eater, I purchased Dave’s restricted diet food due to all the good reviews. And after extensive research, Dave’s seemed to have the best ingredients. I am SO happy to say she LOVES this food & I have already noticed a difference in her belly bloating! I will definitely be purchasing again!
