Transition Instructions

Some pets may have sensitive stomachs and could potentially experience digestive upset from a sudden diet change. Because of this, we recommend making a gradual transition between foods. Begin with 25% of the recommended daily portion of the new food mixed with 75% of the recommended daily portion of the previous diet. Feed this blend for 2-3 days and then change the mix to 50% of each for 2-3 days. Then feed 75% of the recommended daily portion of the new food with 25% of the recommended daily portion of the previous diet for a final 2-3 days before fully switching.

  • For sensitive dogs, extend the period to 10 to 14 days.

    Helped lower her numbers

    By on

I have to admit when I was told my Rizzo's liver was showing signs of decline, I was and still am concerned and scared. The doctor prescribed 2 food options to help stop the decline of her liver function and see if we could get some other numbers in a normal range. I bought a small bag of food and went on my way. I had no idea a small bag of prescription food could cost so much. I decided to come on here and see if I could get a better price and came across this one. We use to give our 1st dog Diamond food. This was years ago but I remember the quality. I requested an approval from our vet to try this prescription formula and we got great results at her last visit. Prescription food

    By on

I decided to try this prescription food for my dog's CKD. It was almost half price to the Hills K/D prescription food. I slowly introduced this food to my dog, mixing it with Hill's. He could NOT tolerate it. After a few days, he got diarrhea that lasted for 10 days. It stopped once I put him back on the old food. Now I am left with 20 pounds of this Diamond food.

    Love it!!!

    By on

I have had my 4 year old standard poodle on this food for several months, ever since he was diagnosed with stage 2 kidney failure. We went back for a 6 month checkup and his numbers have actually improved!! He likes the taste and with the auto ship we don’t run out. Thank you for making such a quality product that is reasonably affordable!

Best quality kidney kibble I've found

    By on

After months of my 12 year old being unusually voraciously hungry but with stomach issues at the same time on Science Diet KD, I did some searching for other prescription kibble. Diamond is great and doesn't have common allergens and fillers that might have been the cause of his stomach problems. He's just as energetic as he was when he was 2 and has a much healthier appetite on it. Kidney numbers have stayed very stable as well!

Too early to give a complete answer

Wrigley is a very fussy eater. Started him on Diamond Renal formula and he liked it immediately. I also cook a renal wet diet for him. His next blood work will tell me more. Keeping my fingers crossed.

    So far so good!

    By on

I talked with my vet about switching my 6yo Rottweiler to this after he slowed down on eating his other prescription food and was having emesis with it. With her approval, we’ve been in this food for going on two weeks now and my boy seems to really enjoy it. We fed him Diamond prior to him getting Lymes disease which led to kidney failure so it’s nice to go back. He is eating well, no emesis, and his coat is softer. It’s also a lot easier on the wallet, but that doesn’t matter to me as long as my dog is taken care of.
